An American woman visiting Australia has shared her confusion about the way shopping carts work in Australia.

Courtnee Crews, from Los Angeles, was amazed that Australian carts can move in all directions during a trip to Kmart.

He shared the new discovery on a TikTok. video but he referred to the carts as ‘buggies’, angering many Australian viewers.

Courtnee Crews (pictured) is visiting Australia from the United States and was surprised to discover that shopping carts don’t just move back and forth.

“I’m in Australia and I want to start telling you about things that are different here than in the United States, starting with buggies, like shopping carts,” Courtnee said in the clip.

“They go in all directions, so to the sides, ours just go back and forth, but these literally do this,” he said as he turned the cart in a circle.

Courtnee added that she has to work to keep the car in a straight line as it veers slightly to the left.

In a TikTok clip, Courtnee showed viewers how Australian buggies, or “buggies” as she called them, can move back and forth and in a complete circle.

“When you push him, he just does this, so I always make (my fiancé) push the carts because I’m so embarrassed,” she laughed.

His video has been viewed 268,500 with many Australians in the comments surprised to find buggies were different across states, while others criticized the term ‘buggy’.

‘That’s a trolley bus mate,’ said one Australian while another asked: ‘Sorry buggy? Never heard of that before lol.’

‘Don’t your cars move in all directions?!’ a third questioned.

‘You mean to tell me that your parents have never thrown you around in circles on an empty island before?’ a fourth laughed.

Others were more helpful, advising Courtnee on how to choose a cart that runs straight and is easier to push.

You just picked a fake one. Always give him a nudge before committing to one,” one person suggested.

‘Good date! If you ever see an abandoned cart in the store, don’t use it. Surely it will have unreliable wheels’, recommended a second.

“These are more convenient, I just have to get better,” Courtnee admitted.
