An American TikTokker has died after tripping over a 70-foot coastal cliff in Puerto Rico while recording videos to upload to his account.

The 27-year-old was on a day trip to the southwest coast and was last seen alive around 5:37 p.m. near the edge of the cliff, the US Coast Guard said.

Coast Guard watchmen in the San Juan Sector received a call at 6:50 pm from a 911 emergency operator who reported the incident, according to US Coast Guard News.

A witness at the scene later relayed to observers that they saw Garay stumble towards the edge of the cliff, he said.

The TikTokker’s brother, Carlos Garay, told WTHR that he was on the cliff with his cousin, who repeatedly told him not to get too close to the edge during filming.

“My brother has a TikTok account that he loved to upload videos to,” Carlos reportedly said.

“Unfortunately, that was what he was trying to do when he was closer to the edge than he should have been.”

Carlos told the news station that Edgar was found in an underwater cave with massive head injuries from the accident.

“We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Edgar Garay and pray that they find closure and strength during this very difficult time,” Coast Guard Capt. José E. Díaz said in a statement.

“We appreciate the efforts of all the emergency services of the Coast Guard, the Puerto Rico Police and associated agencies, especially the diving unit of the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Bureau that was able to locate the body of Mr. Garay in a such an inaccessible and challenging environment,” Diaz added. .

Garay was last seen alive around 5:37 p.m. near the edge of the cliff in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.

Jayhawk helicopters, a quick response court patrol boat and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft were used in the search for Garay.

Multiple searches were conducted from Sunday night through Monday before the body was discovered, the Coast Guard said.

The social media star, whose real name is Taylor, had 1.7 million followers on the platform, where he posted clips of himself trying strange foods.
