An American student is said to have been killed by his friend in Bangkok when he told him not to draw a Nazi swastika on his own forehead.

Saul Jeremiah Tambago Rosenthal, 22, had been drinking with his Thai friend ‘Set’ at a restaurant in the Thai capital on Monday.

But they started feuding when Set daubed the German war symbol on his own forehead and reportedly laughed at the image while making lewd remarks.

Set’s actions irked Saul, who confronted his friend in an alley where he tried to explain to him that the swastika was an offensive symbol associated with heinous crimes against humanity – but the conversation degenerated into an alcohol-fueled argument.

Saul reportedly got angry with Set and tried to attack him, but the young Thai retaliated and stabbed him with a short knife.

Police Captain Kraisorn Inpuen of Wang Thong Lang District Police Station said: “At the scene, the team discovered the body sprawled on the ground. He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans, and he had two stab wounds on the left side of his chest.’

Officers said they detained Set, of mixed Thai and Filipino nationality, who carried a five-inch knife believed to be the murder weapon while in a “heavily intoxicated state.”

They said they took him to the police station because he was wandering and couldn’t be properly questioned.

According to the police, both men were students at Ramkhamhaeng University and were staying in a student house in Bangkok.

They also shared the same circle of friends.

Police Captain Kraisorn Inpuen said officers initially charged Set with willful homicide and carrying a knife in public.
