American rockers KISS tipped to perform at AFL Grand Final after Crowded House ditched the gig

American rockers KISS got a tip to perform at the AFL Grand Final after Crowded House dumped the gig

American rock legends KISS are tipped to perform at the upcoming AFL Grand Final next month.

According to the Herald Sunthe Beth hitmakers were called in at the last minute after Kiwi-Australian crooners Crowded House pulled out of the gig.

The publication also claims that Kylie Minogue also pulled out of the concert.

While no official announcement has yet been made, the AFL will reportedly confirm the lineup for the Grand Finals in September.

KISS would return to Australia in October for their End of the Road World Tour.

It’s the last tour for the flamboyant rockers before they retire, and will officially conclude at New York’s Madison Square Garden in December.

Currently their only Australian show is October 7 at Accor Stadium in Sydney.

The news comes weeks after reports that Crowded House pulled out of the grand final despite previously committing to perform.

So far, no details have emerged as to why the Don’t Dream It’s Over hitmakers ditched the AFL’s decider, which has historically attracted a TV audience of up to 5 million fans.

It is the first time since 2010 that the AFL has had to search for a replacement act for their Grand Final entertainment.

That year, American music legend Lionel Ritchie stepped in at the last minute after INXS was unable to do the gig.

It comes after the AFL’s grand final was rejected by viewers last year.

While Robbie Williams received praise for his opener, which featured a duet with Delta Goodrem, the other Australian acts involved were devastated.

Half-time entertainment included performances by G Flip and Aussie rock bands Goanna and Temper Trap and a range of First Nations performers.

While some viewers were no doubt happy to see underrepresented minority groups take center stage, others called it “awake” and said the vocals weren’t up to par.
