The 26-year-old, born in Brisbane, shocked American viewers during an appearance on Saturday Night Live when he hosted the show in his natural voice.
It seems like many American fans expected the Euphoria star to be American.
“Watching SNL and why didn’t anyone tell me Jacob Elordi has an accent? Oh,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), signing it with a crying emoji.

It seems other US fans were equally baffled when one clearly distraught fan exclaimed in all caps: “Does Jacob Elordi have an accent?”
The Saltburn star started his appearance on SNL by delivering the monologue – and one fan thought his Down Under twang was a ‘performance’.
“Jacob Elordi sounds like he’s faking his accent,” the fan wrote on X, adding:
“Sorry, I don’t think this is normal.”

However, one or more fans of the X-thread seemed to know that the Kissing Booth star was from Down Under.
“Jacob Elordi has an American accent so I forget he’s Australian,” they wrote.
Meanwhile, Jacob has become a viral sensation after starring in racy new film Saltburn.
The handsome star has attracted 786,000 new followers to his Instagram since the film dropped on Amazon Prime Video last month.
