Katy Perry has been labeled “rude and condescending” by fans of American Idol after the star became embroiled in a mother-shaming controversy on the show.
The 38-year-old singer was accused by viewers of being too harsh on ABC talent show contestants during Tuesday night’s episode.
It comes after Sarah Beth Liebe quit American Idol after a mom-shaming row inflamed by Katy as a judge was criticized for comments during her audition.
As the show’s dreaded Hollywood week rolled around again, a star fell out right before her duet, while two partners felt the pressure.
But viewers accused Katy of treating the contestants too harshly, accusing her of being “condescending.”

Their comments came as host Ryan Seacrest took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes photos from the show, but some fans responded to the comments to get rid of Katy’s behavior.
One of them wrote, ‘Katy is so rude and condescending to the contestants, unless it’s a manly cutie then she acts like a teenage fool. One contestant dropped out because of her. Bye Katie!’
While another was furious: “And Katy Perry’s comments were rude too. Lost control, the show is now contrived and it is an insult to the viewer! Bye.’
MailOnline has reached out to Katy’s representatives for comment.
During Tuesday night’s episode, Katy was accused of being too harsh on contestants Carina DeAngelo and Nutsa Abuza, who struggled with their duet.
Carina, 25, from Kailua, Hawaii, got upset during rehearsals when duet partner Nutsa, 25, from Georgia, went to bed when she wanted to keep practicing.
“It hurts me when someone doesn’t take it as seriously as I do,” Carina said. “Hollywood Week isn’t a joke, it’s like a Hunger Games or something.”
Nutsa showed up again an hour later and said she knew the song I Put A Spell on You, but Carina freaked out. She kept practicing until 3:20 am, but Carina was still not happy.
“I just want to sound fucking good and it’s not doing that right now,” Carina said. ‘I do not want to go home.’
Before performing, the pair told the judges that they had clashed, with Katy asking for more details about what had happened.
When they explained what had happened to their nightly fight, Katy said, “Maybe we should just let them sing.”

After the pair took the stage, the judges were not impressed with their performance and did not shy away from giving their feedback.
Lionel Richie said, “I must admit it was a bit,” before Katy interrupted to add, “Underwhelming.”
In the end, the judges voted to keep Nutsa, but Katy then encouraged her to have more pardons.
The latest criticism comes after American Idol star Sara Beth Liebe left the competition following a “mom-shaming” argument sparked by Katy.
On March 5, Sara revealed that she had given birth to three children before she turned 25, leading mother-of-one Katy to joke that she had been “too much on the table.”
Katy – who shares daughter Daisy, two, with fiance Orlando Bloom, 46 – was widely criticized for the comment, while Sara later took to TikTok to admit she found the joke “hurtful”.
Sara chose to walk away from the competition to “be with her babies” on Sunday’s Hollywood Weekly episode, leaving judges and show producers in shock.
She had sung her first song, The Police hit Roxanne, before telling judges Katy, Luke Bryan and Lionel, ‘This opportunity is really great, but this will actually be my last performance because my heart is home.
“So I’m going home to my babies. They need me a little bit.’
Luke labeled the decision a “mistake” while Katy begged her to reconsider, to which Sara replied, “I don’t even know what show business is. I’ve been a mother since I was 18. I have been married since I was 18. I don’t think I realized how hard it would be to be away from my kids.
“They’re all still very young. There is a lot of guilt when you leave your kids to do something completely selfish. I feel like I’m not going to win the show anyway, so I might as well go home.”
Katy said, “You opened a door you never thought you’d open, and you got a yes.” You may get another yes in the future. Do not give up.’
Sara said backstage, “I’m really humbled and grateful, and Katy had some really nice things to say. If my kids were a little older… I understand how likely this is, but I still kind of want to go home.

Sara shared a TikTok video after her departure was confirmed revealing that she suffered a panic attack shortly after her first audition.
She wrote, “A lot of people don’t realize I was scouted to audition. They contacted me. And I am so grateful. I have never had so much support with singing. And it’s amazing and so humbling and made me realize how much I want to make music.
‘Half a year ago I didn’t know that yet. But I can also make hard choices that are best for me.’
When she revealed she welcomed three kids before she turned 25, Katy pretended to pass out, prompting Sara Beth to say, “If Katy’s on the table, I think I’ll pass out.”
Katy then joked, “Honey, you’ve been on the table too much.”
In a new TikTok, the aspiring singer admitted she found the joke “hurtful” and discouraged people from participating in “mom-shaming.”

“At the start of my audition before singing I said I had three kids and was a young mom and Katy Perry made a joke that wasn’t super nice,” Sara said, as transcribed by Just shocked.
“I don’t have too much to say about it because it’s probably pretty obvious.”
She continued, “It was embarrassing to have that on TV. And it was hurtful and, you know, that’s that.
Sara encouraged others to uplift women and spoke directly to other young mothers who reached out to support her.
