American Idol contestant is slammed for her ‘disgusting’ and ‘rude’ attitude after she stopped live performance to criticize her pianist – before making low blows about judge Luke Bryan

An American Idol contestant has been criticized for her “disgusting” attitude after she quit her performance, demanded to sing acapella and called out judge Luke Bryan.

Madai ChaKell, from Springfield, Massachusetts, caused quite a stir on Sunday episode of the singing competition during Hollywood Night.

The 22-year-old brought the show to a standstill when she attempted to perform Ariana Grande’s Tattooed Heart for the judges, which also included Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

Tensions were already high after Luke Madai previously gave Madai a ‘no’ during her first audition – but things soon came to a head.

Tensions were already high after Luke Madai previously gave Madai a ‘no’ during her first audition – but things soon came to a head.

Madai, who works as a content creator, was halfway through an impassioned rendition of the 2013 release before abruptly stopping and turning to glare at the pianist.

The singing hopeful said, “Wait a minute, hey, can we start that again? I didn’t feel that. Sorry everyone.”

She resumed her performance, but it was far from smooth.

Madai’s voice seemed to crack before she suddenly reached out an arm and pointed at the musician providing the accompanying song, without turning to meet his gaze.

She said firmly, “Okay, we’re going to do this acapella because that doesn’t flow like we’ve been practicing.”

The artist seemed to redeem herself after going solo and received a lukewarm applause from the judges before they shared their feedback.

Luke labeled her voice as “shaky” and asked bluntly, “Is your voice okay?”

Madai admitted it was “not where I wanted it to be” but seemed to change her attitude backstage.

Another said: ‘We do NOT want Madai ChaKell as our American Idol!! Boot her off! She’s an arrogant bastard and doesn’t deserve a second chance!! She is rude, nasty and condescending! She did NOT deserve all these innovations!’

And a third said: ‘I love that American Idol gave Madai ChaKell a second chance to show what a jerk she is.’

Ultimately, Madai was sent home by the jury when cuts were made.
