American Idol alumnus Triston Harper, 16, says he tied the knot with pregnant girlfriend

Triston Harper is reportedly a married man and is preparing to become a father at the age of 16.

The former American Idol contestant recently announced the news on Facebook, claiming he had tied the knot with his pregnant girlfriend, 17-year-old Paris Reed.

On Nov. 6, the singer — who was eliminated from the ABC competition series just before the season finale — shared a message with fans announcing he was tying the knot with his now-wife: “I have major news harpies. [sic].’

Two days later, his mother, Hattie Mae Sullivan, revealed that the couple is expecting their first child together.

She posted a selfie Harper took with his new wife as they posed with a positive pregnancy test.

“Now everyone has congratulated me on Triston and Paris getting married, but that’s old news to me, but now I’m about to become a ‘G Ma,'” she happily captioned the post.

Harper appeared on American Idol during season 22, which aired earlier this year.

The Alabama native wowed judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie with his audition, as well as the story of his troubled childhood on the ABC singing competition series.

‘When I was 11 years old, my mother was with my stepfather. “He started getting very abusive,” he said.

‘We had to leave McIntosh [Alabama]”, then everything just went sideways,” he shared in a video package that aired on the show during the audition.

“The lowest part of my life was when me and my mom had that [become] homeless and sleeping on the sidewalk,” he said. “I had just turned twelve.”

Harper added, “I never thought I would ever be able to tell my story to American Idol. It makes me happy just thinking about it.”

After his audition, the jury praised him and also gave him constructive criticism on his singing technique.

“Everything you technically do is because you’re fifteen,” Bryan told him.

“If I could have an afternoon with you and just say, ‘Don’t do that again,’ just like, ‘Don’t do those two things,’ and man, I mean, you’re just…” he previously continued Perry interrupted him.
