Employees of Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection made this known safest city in the world for tourists earlier this month.

Several officials involved in the world’s safest city for tourists held a press conference on May 29 to announce the rankings.

Conference participants included the city’s chief of police, the mayor and a member of the Senate.

According to the rankings, Honolulu is the safest city in the world this year – a top destination for tourists in Hawaii that officials say is making concerted efforts to ensure it “remains a safe place for residents and travelers.”

The company found it the safest after creating a list of popular cities on travel websites, asking pollsters who visited the areas to rate them for safety, and adding ratings from the Safe Cities Index, GeoSure Global and Numbeo.

Honolulu is Hawaii’s largest city and is home to the State Capitol, according to the American newspaper University of Hawaii at Manoa.

A press release published by the Hawaiian Tourism Authority shows that more than 753,000 tourists visited Honolulu in April 2024, spending a total of $1.51 billion during their stay.

Officials emphasized during the May 29 press conference that the safety of tourists and residents has always been a priority.
