American Bluey viewers are shocked to learn Aussies have a different name for a very well-known store
American Bluey fans have been left confused after hearing what Australians are calling a very famous store.
Viewers of the globally popular children’s animation show went into panic mode as they re-watched the popular TV Shop episode from the show’s third season.
The episode sees Bluey and Bingo having fun playing with the CCTV cameras in a store called Pharmacy Warehouse.
However, American fans were left confused after hearing Bingo call the chemist a ‘chemist’ in a very well-known phrase Down Under.
An American asked on Facebook: ‘Random question for Australian people… are pharmacists usually called chemists, like Bandit did in TV Shop?’
Aussies then took to the comments to clarify that ‘chemist’ is a common term for a pharmacy, while expressing their disbelief at the confusion.

In fact, the term is so well known in Australia that one of the country’s leading pharmacy chains is called Chemist Warehouse.
‘Yes, get your medicine from the pharmacy! As well as perfume, jelly beans, makeup and much more, especially from the pharmacy warehouse,” said one user.
“Yes, I’m going to the pharmacy,” another commented.
A third clarified: ‘Yes, but both are actually used in Australia and New Zealand. So you could say, ‘I need something from the pharmacy’ or something from the pharmacy, both are correct and common.”
“We have Chemist Warehouse and Priceline Pharmacy so both work,” another added.
‘Chemistry and pharmacy are for the most part interchangeable. “I always say I’m going to the pharmacy, but the person who gives me my medicine is a pharmacist,” a third added.
Another Australian joined the debate, claiming that most people call the actual storefront a pharmacy, while the medicine counter inside is typically referred to as a pharmacy.
The word chemist is often used not only in Australia, but also in Great Britain and New Zealand.

Although Bluey is an Australian animated show, it has become extremely popular in the United States and has topped the ratings for two years in a row.
The animated children’s series has been riding high among the top ten streaming shows in the US for 112 weeks.
The figures were collected earlier this month by the Nielsen ratings, which track viewership in the US, the Comic book website.
And according to Nielsen research, Bluey has been in the top ten streaming shows in the US as of October 2022.
Bluey airs in more than 60 countries and all three seasons of the Emmy-winning cartoon are available on ABC iview.
The award-winning animated series first debuted in 2018 and has since become a favorite for kids and parents alike.
Last month, BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company announced they were bringing Bluey’s first-ever animated film to the big screen, which will be written and directed by the show’s creator, Joe Brumm.
“I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that,” said Brumm.
‘I always thought that Bluey deserved a movie in the cinema. I want this to be an experiential event that the whole family can enjoy together.”
