Airline employee dies after ‘traumatic injuries’ on Austin, Texas tarmac – months after an Alabama airline employee was fatally sucked into engine
An American Airlines employee has died of “traumatic injuries” on the tarmac of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas.
The tragedy occurred around 2 p.m. Thursday, and paramedics pronounced the staffer dead at the scene.
An airport spokesperson said Austin Travis County EMS personnel rushed to the incident at the airport and later determined the cause of death was due to traumatic injuries.
Austin police have confirmed the death, saying the incident was a work accident that sadly turned fatal.

In a statement, Austin Bergstrom International Airport said, “This afternoon AUS received word that Austin-Travis County EMS has responded to an injured airline employee.
The incident took place outside the terminal where planes park in front of their gate. ATCEMS declared the employee deceased.
“Our thoughts are with this employee and all those affected by today’s tragic event.”
The airport added that the incident would not have a major impact on its operations.
It comes months after another airline employee was killed after being violently sucked into the engine of a recently landed plane at Alabama’s Montgomery Regional Airport.
Courtney Edwards, 34, was working as a ground agent for Piedmont Airlines when the tragedy unfolded on New Year’s Eve.
The mother-of-three was reportedly repeatedly warned to stay behind after standing too close to the engine, before being sucked into the mechanics and shaking the entire plane.
