  • AMD has announced that the CES 2025 event will take place on Monday, January 6
  • Jack Huynh, SVP Computing and Graphics, will moderate the press event
  • Huynh dropped a heavy hint on X that we will see RDNA 4 graphics cards

AMD has revealed when its press event will take place at CES 2025, dropping a heavy hint that we will indeed see RDNA 4 desktop graphics cards at the show.

Notably, the event, which is scheduled for Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. EST, 7 p.m. in the UK), is not listed as a keynote. And instead of being delivered by CEO Lisa Su, it’s Jack Huynh, SVP and GM, Computing and Graphics at AMD, who will present Team Red’s latest goodies.

The official AMD web page because the event just went live (like VideoCardz noted), but that doesn’t give us anything beyond the date, and the teaser we’ll get to “hear how AMD is expanding its leadership in PCs and gaming.”

However, in a post on

As we’ve heard before, RDNA 4 GPUs are rumored for CES 2025, as well as a number of Ryzen processors that will be of interest to gamers – including Strix Halo laptop APUs and Ryzen Z2 flavors for handhelds.

Additionally, we should see other mobile APUs and the Ryzen 9950X3D plus 9900X3D processors, among many more. If all goes well, it will be an event packed with product launches.

Analysis: Exciting times, especially if the latest RDNA 4 rumors are true

Earlier this year, there was a lot of hope that AMD would release new RDNA 4 graphics cards in late 2024 – which will reportedly only land in the mid-range this time, with no challenger to Nvidia’s next-generation flagship.

That obviously didn’t happen, and as mentioned, there have been rumors for a while that we’ll see these graphics cards at CES 2025. If there’s one key part of AMD’s next generation of gaming, it’s RDNA 4, so Huynh’s comments pretty much confirm all the evidence surrounding the launch of what could be the RX 8800 XT (and likely a partner GPU, like perhaps the 8700 XT).

In theory, the 8800 XT could be a big leap in ray tracing performance for AMD – if new speculation is correct – and also a good upgrade for rasterized (non-ray tracing) frame rates. As always, a lot will depend on the price tag that Team Red puts on the GPU, and everything else that RDNA 4 has to offer.
