Amber Heard says ‘beautiful’ new thriller In The Fire is ‘about love’…as she returns to the big screen for the first time since the Johnny Depp trial
Amber Heard praised her new film this weekend when she attended the premiere at Italy’s Taormina Film Festival.
The actress, 37, stars in thriller In The Fire, her first foray into the big screen since she lost the 2022 defamation lawsuit brought by her ex-husband Johnny Depp, 60.
“It’s a beautiful film about the almost supernatural effect and power of love,” she applauded People at the film festival.
She added, “It’s about the boundaries that love can transcend and its creation, and really about the overwhelming power that love has.”
Heard, who moved to Spain with her two-year-old daughter in the aftermath of the trial, gushed, “I don’t want to sound cheesy about it, but it’s a movie about love.”

The plot of the movie In The Fire takes place in Colombia in 1899.
The synopsis about the festival websitereveals that Amber will play an American psychiatrist who “arrives at a wealthy farm in Colombia after being called to solve the case of a disturbed child.”
The boy’s mother is concerned about accusations from a local priest that her child is possessed by the devil.
“When the doctor arrives, she discovers that the boy’s mother is dead and that the father himself has come to believe in the possible possession of the child.”
As the doctor uses the still-new practice to try and cure the child, it becomes a race against time to save the boy, and perhaps her own life.
Amber exuded showbiz glamor in a black ensemble as she presented In The Fire at the 69th Taormina Festival.
She looked elegant in a pleated dress with sheer waterfall sleeves, which she paired with platform heels.
The Hollywood blonde wore her golden locks in tight curls over her shoulders and completed her look with a bold red lipstick.

Amber left court drama behind as she smiled and laughed with her Italian co-star Luca Calvani, 48, and other friends the night before.
The beauty slipped into a plain white top and cream midi skirt with a front slit that highlighted her toned pins.
She paired her evening outfit with a simple black clutch and black pumps which she later took off during the outing.
Amber let her wavy blonde locks down for the occasion, while amping up the glamor with a touch of bold red lipstick.
Despite her recent legal troubles, the mother of a child looked happier than ever as she laughed and joked with her friends at the film festival.
Her performance marked her first time promoting a movie since her trial.
Amber will also appear in the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. She is expected to reprise her role as Mera for the superhero movie due out in December.
Amber lives near Madrid with her daughter Oonagh, two, where she moved after the trial. The little one was born via surrogate mother in April 2021.
