After seeing the advert for the position, a friend encouraged Ms. Bain to apply and she spent countless hours editing her presentation videos before being named to the shortlist.

“Everything about it, it was like looking at a list of my dream jobs,” Ms. Bain told NCA NewsWire.

‘I’m 36 years old, so I want to do something I’m passionate about, so I decided to just do it.

“I got a phone call from Amazon saying I’d been shortlisted, and I was like, ‘OMG!’

She said the time between applying for the position and being told she had been successful passed “very quickly.”

“I submitted the video and about a week and a half later, I was shortlisted. I tried not to get my hopes up,” she said.

“I remember thinking, I’ve never had a job interview that was so much fun and I didn’t need to pretend to be passionate and happy about it.”

Not long after, she received the news that she was the lucky one chosen to play the role.

Unlike a normal 9am to 5pm gig, the role of Buff has some pretty awesome perks, including exclusive access to Prime Video content, access to red carpet events, working from your couch, all while becoming a a fixture on Prime’s social platforms.

Osher Gunsberg, who is no stranger to the small screen, was on the selection panel. The television personality said they were “blown away” by the volume of applicants for the role.

“Alex immediately caught our attention through the Prime Video Buff review process,” said Mr. Gunsberg.

“Alex is creative and confident, with a lot of charisma and, above all, she is obsessed with entertainment.”

“From Alex’s audition video, she included countless entertainment references and could possibly be the most entertainment-versed person in all of Australia.”

“His imitations were just an added bonus… Almost immediately we knew we had found, dare I say it, the one!”

Ms Bain said she was delighted to have been selected for the prestigious role, where she will be able to share her views on her favorite subject.

“When it comes to sharing content, you never know who will see it. What I really love is the report after seeing something, like going for a coffee or a drink afterwards,” said Ms Bain.

“I follow a lot of YouTube reviewers and they often have certain opinions about things, so I love hearing their ideas or hearing that they caught something I didn’t see.

“I love hearing other people’s opinions, and what really excites me is opening that line of communication to a different level.

‘This is the most amazing thing that has ever happened!’
