Amazon is hiring 150,000 temps for Christmas this year

Amazon will hire 150,000 employees in the US in full-time, seasonal and part-time positions across its operating network for the holiday season.
A wide range of roles are available, from packing and picking to sorting and shipping, for candidates of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Amazon claims that workers can earn more than $19 an hour on average based on their position and location in the US, with California, Illinois and Texas being the states with the most jobs available.

The news comes after Amazon announced it was raising its average starting wage for warehouse and delivery workers to more than $19 an hour, up from $18 an hour.
But if you’re not based in the US, don’t count yourself out.
Amazon’s announcement comes as the retail giant has been accelerating its UK workforce in recent years, taking this step to bring its permanent UK workforce to 70,000.
Amazon said the move will make it one of the largest private sector employers in the UK, aligning itself with John Lewis and Alliance Boots, and surpassing the UK military’s workforce.
However, the move comes because many of the retail giant’s employees are unhappy with their terms.
Amazon workers in New York City formed the first union in the company’s history in July 2022, and German workers staged strikes in seven distribution centers in May.
In August, there was a strike at Amazon’s largest distribution center in the UK in Tilbury, with workers claiming it was not addressing cost-of-living issues.
However, some US Amazon employees will now receive additional benefits, including signing contracts ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 in select locations.
