“This incident is a timely reminder that the sea can look nice, but it can also be very dangerous.

“As we approach the summer season, it’s important to use a beach with lifeguards for swimming, but if you get into trouble, keep calm, try #FloatToLive and try to get someone’s attention.

“If you see someone in trouble, call 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.”

Those who viewed the footage on social media say the heroes deserve a medal.

One woman posted, “Watched this from my window. Those men worked together as a team. I don’t know if they even knew each other. Well done to you all.

Another commented: ‘Well done to those men. If it weren’t for them, it could have been a different story. The sea is so powerful. Glad she’s okay x.”

Another resident added: I am so relieved that she and her rescuers survived and I sincerely thank them. Well done to all involved.

“We pass that place so often and see children (and adults) standing on the wall. It is very dangerous there, especially during rough seas. I get so nervous every time we pass.”
