Analysis: a sign of things to come
Zepp Flow has already been tested on watches like the Amazfit Balance, but this is the first time we’ve seen AI-powered voice assistants on such a cheap watch. The fact that it’s available for under $100 is very impressive considering the kind of functionality on offer. Such a price clearly puts it in Fitbit rather than Apple Watch territory, and it’s sure to be popular with Android users who are already AI fans.
Here’s what the AI-powered smartwatch will likely look like in the near future, including those from the big Android players like Samsung: voice commands, functionality requests, Gemini-style suggestions used when replying to emails and messages , and personalized wellness information, including sensitive things like menstrual tracking in addition to exercise plans.
Using AI in menstrual tracking would raise eyebrows: given the nervousness some consumers have about giving their data to chatbots, asking potential buyers to offer up such sensitive information (especially in countries with strict abortion laws) can deter people.
Otherwise it’s a pretty standard, cheap fitness watch, albeit one that looks nice: designed for the “everyday athlete”. If current Amazfit trends are anything to go by, the activity and sleep tracking are likely to be very solid, although those 160 different sports The mode will likely have largely different names with a few GPS-enabled workouts with unique metrics like stride and cadence for running and power for cycling. We’ll definitely know more once we get our hands on the device.
