A decorated amateur boxer from Colorado has died from serious injuries sustained in a car accident, his family has revealed.

Donovan Garcia, 15, suffered severe brain injuries after an accident on January 11, according to the family report. GoFundMe Page. Doctors recently ran final tests on him, but he was unresponsive and he was declared legally dead last week.

“With Donovan’s entire body from the neck down being fully functional, his parents fought to keep him on life support,” Garcia’s cousin Rosmina’s post said. Despite his best efforts, Donovan’s health began to fail. Unfortunately, Donovan fought his biggest fight and went 7 rounds, but he was tired.

‘His family wants everyone to know that he is at peace and they are at peace with God’s will. We will update everyone on the services as soon as we can. Thank you all for the continued prayers, support and love. Donovan’s memory and legacy will live on forever.

Garcia earned a Golden Gloves title in 2019, as well as Silver Gloves State Champion and Youth Olympic Games State Champion honors during his decorated amateur career.

The funeral home shared an obituary for Donovan, and many mourners shared their memories of the teenager.

“Met Donovan at our Brawlers gym a couple of years ago,” wrote a man who gave his name as “Coach Mario” and is believed to be Mario Marin. ‘A young man so well educated (sic) disciplined that I thought watching him train. I told my son X, ”that boy gets it! He is talented and started training from a young age like your son.

“We would later meet him and his father/trainer Daniel at events and they were always class acts, we enjoyed watching Donovan-Garcia perform,” Mario continued. I loved the cowboy stunt of him!!! Kid was a cheerleader/athlete. We lost him here on Earth and Heaven gained an Angel. RIP champion.

Another boxing trainer, Manuel Alvarado, wrote that Donovan had a “heart of gold”.

“I had the pleasure of training him when he was 7 years old and registered him with USA BOXING to start his amateur career,” Alvarado wrote. “He went on to be a great champion beating some of the best boxers. Boxing was his passion.
