Inside, the actresses were interviewed by Michael Strahan and Linsey Davis about playing Alex Forrest (Caplan) and Beth Gallagher (Peet).

When asked about the first time she saw the psychosexual thriller, originally starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close, Caplan joked that she couldn’t remember “exactly,” but that she was “way too young.”

However, Peet recalled being 17 or 18 at the theater with her best friend, whose boyfriend “passed out” while watching the movie.

On what it was like to play such a popular role and adapt to a TV series, the New York native said she’s a “huge fan of [Fatal Attraction showrunner] Alexandra Cunningham” and knew she would really “dig into” Alex Forrest’s psychological backstory.

“That was worth checking out again,” she gushed.

While talking about Peet’s movie, Something’s Gotta Give, the actress hilariously revealed that her kids could barely make it through the first few minutes.

“Unbeknownst to me, they looked at the beginning and saw me … rolling or making out with Jack Nicholson, and they turned it off,” she mused.

To her amusement, they told her that the movie was “so messed up” and inappropriate because of their 35 year age difference.

“They don’t understand that it’s actually a movie about this Lothario, who meets his match in Diane Keaton, and that it’s a comedy. And it doesn’t condone a huge age difference between a boyfriend and girlfriend,” she said. “Anyway, it’s kind of funny.

While many would assume her children Frances, 16, Molly, 13, and Henry, 8, would ‘cringe’ over her kissing Nicholson, Peet insisted they thought the age difference was ‘ethically murky’ and not beyond the opening makeup could come. session out.

The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress for Close.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in June, Joshua Jackson, who stars as Gallagher, claimed the new series would be “an even more emotional version of the story,” which has been updated to the current date.

“That allows us to understand some of the sexual politics of the [movie]and because we have eight hours to tell the story, it also allows us to dive much deeper into that Glenn Close character and… paint a richer picture of how that woman became [who she is]and why she did the things she did,” he explained.

“That movie is basically every man’s worst nightmare coming to life, and our show is a nightmare. It’s a nightmare for men.’
