Amanda Holden recalls her first kiss and leaves Ashley Roberts shocked by the brutal feedback she gave her love interest afterwards

Amanda Holden revealed who her first kiss was on Heart Radio Breakfast on Tuesday morning.

The presenter, 53, was quizzed by Ashley Roberts about her first romance on the show and left the former Pussycat Dolls singer shocked by the cheeky feedback she gave him after the smooch.

Amanda said, “I mean, this poor guy, honestly, his name comes up all the time when he’s listening. I’m really sorry. Matthew **********.

Or it could have been Thomas *******. Anyway, it was one of them, and it would have been in the Dynamos discos. The Dynamos were a football team in Bishops Waltham, and I remember telling him he kissed like a snail.”

Ashley replied, “Oh no! That would have stayed with him forever.”

Amanda told her: ‘I think he’s happily married now with lots of children. I’m a distant memory.’

Jamie Theakston, meanwhile, revealed his first kiss was at a house party.

He said: ‘Mine was at a house party under a table in the kitchen. Yes, that was mine. Yes. There was a buffet. There was a buffet on top and a tablecloth over it so no one could see it, so that’s why we went there.”

Ashley remembered of her: ‘ Mine was after school and sat in a wicker chair because that’s what we have in Arizona, so hot you can’t have regular furniture. It was with Darren *****. I feel warm just thinking about it. We were nervous. We say: we do this. Are we doing this?’

Amanda is now happily married to Chris Hughes and recently upgraded her £40,000 engagement band from 2008 to a £200,000 ring.

A source revealed that her producer husband Chris Hughes bought it “as a little upgrade for Christmas.”

Diamond expert Zack Stone of Steven Stone Jewelers told The Mail on Sunday that Amanda’s new ring would have cost around £200,000.

“The oval ring with yellow gold band and platinum head with hidden halo appears to be six to seven carats in size and is likely to cost £200,000,” he said.

Her first engagement ring – from 2008 – was, according to the diamond expert: ‘Two-and-a-half carat, emerald cut ring approximately £40,000’.

Amanda celebrated her 16th wedding anniversary with Chris last month and shared an enthusiastic media post about their Christmas-themed wedding day at St Margaret’s Church in Somerset.

She wrote: ‘Sixteen years ago today I married the love of my life. Twenty-one years together and I still feel like kicking his ass.’

The couple – who live in a £7million mansion in Surrey with their two daughters, Lexi, 18, and Hollie, 12 – met in Los Angeles in 2003 but only started dating a year later after reuniting at the London Fashion Week.

Their star-studded 2008 wedding reception was held at the exclusive private members club Babington House in Somerset, with guests including two-time Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, Gavin And Stacey creator James Corden, singer Mick Hucknall and presenter Piers Morgan.

In 2019, Amanda said of her marriage, “Chris is very funny and errs on the side of lightness. During the best and darkest times of our lives, we can joke about any situation.

‘He hates romance, but he’s there for the serious stuff, like keeping my car clean and making sure I relax. He is a real guy who takes care of me. I’m a strong, strong-willed woman, but he helps steer the Mandy ship.’

Before meeting Chris, Amanda was married to TV presenter Les Dennis from 1995 to 2002.

Listen to Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden weekdays from 6:30am – 10am in the UK and on Global Player.
