Amanda Holden feared for Simon Cowell’s safety during ‘dangerous’ weapon stunt as she bemoans lack of health and safety during the Britain’s Got Talent auditions

Amanda Holden has revealed how she became concerned for co-star Simon Cowell’s safety during a recent audition for Britain’s Got Talent during a terrifying gun stunt.

The talent show judge, 53, was joined by Simon during the early stages of this year’s series of the ITV show, where they auditioned hopefuls for a spot.

But during Heart Breakfast on Monday, she revealed there was one ‘dangerous’ act involving the music mogul this weekend.

She said: ‘I’ve had BGT in beautiful Blackpool for days! But yeah, I’m not gonna lie, Simon Cowell decided to kind of…

“Well, he was involved in an act yesterday, that’s all I’ll say about it.

“I mean so dangerous that I looked at the producers and thought I didn’t know how sensible it was for him to be a part of it.”

When her co-host Jason King – who replaces Jamie Theakston – asked about the prospect of health and safety, Amanda confirmed there was none.

She said, ‘No, I mean, you know how this world has too much of the high visibility and health and safety? It’s driving me crazy, but I was like, “Where were they?”

“Yes, and the only note Simon got was, ‘Don’t move!’

“Of course he moved because he said he could feel the wind from this particular… I’m going to say gun right near his head, and I mean it was horrible to see.

‘Because the act also involved a lot of eating and a lot of crushing, so the stage was very slippery.

‘So with any safety measures there was a risk due to the moving floor.

‘I just don’t understand it – it was crazy! But anyway, with all that in mind and of course Simon’s courage, he had to go get changed!’

The long-running talent series, which has discovered the likes of Susan Boyle and Diversity and was won last year by singer Sydnie Christmas, will return to screens later this year.

Auditions for series 18 were canceled in October following the shocking death of Liam Payne earlier that month at the age of 31, after the former X Factor contestant fell from a third-floor hotel balcony in Argentina.

A few days ago she revealed a huge spoiler for the new series in her radio program.

She said: ‘It’s BGT time. We’re doing auditions in Blackpool and I’m everywhere. I do Heart, I do Blackpool, I do everything!

“And yesterday I mean it’s a spoiler alert, I don’t know how much the producers care or if they’re even listening. But yesterday we have never had so many birds on stage.

“Before you write anything, let me just say that we had a pole-dancing seagull, we had a guy playing rubber chickens, and we had a guy who dedicated an entire song to Bruno while sitting on a giant rooster!”
