Thinking about Amanda’s trip in the spin-off, Lucy added: ‘Her mask has now come loose and she has fallen a bit. She wants that status she had and is desperate, and so she designs herself. ‘

The chemistry between the cast and the makers on stage was felt when Lucy explained that she and Phillipa – who return as Amanda’s loyal friend Anne – “just clicked on the first day.”

And there was nothing but praise for the Derry Girls actress, because Phillipa quickly became the subject of endless admiration and co-maker Sharon Horgan that everyone on the set was ‘obsessed’ by the Irish star.

‘Literally, there is no one on the set that is not obsessed with her. Everyone is like, she is so nice, I can be her friend, you can give a good word, “said the writer nominated by Emmy.

Dame Joanna also praised the actress and teased a striking moment for her character towards the end of the series, so that Anne will do something straight to the end that is brave and great. ‘

“I suddenly think oh my God looks at this small funny blob – she is pretty funny,” the iconic star joked.

Amandaland, Dame added Joanna, “was magical to be part of” if the cast “are not of this world.”

The national treasure also discussed its typecasting in villainy, icy roles – often as sharp edge matriarchs.

‘I have always been cast as horrible wild old korries and mothers, I don’t know what it is because I am a sunny character! It is written in my contract, I have to be in common, “she revealed.

“She is so selfish and so independent, I just love her,” added the screen icon of her character at the premiere.

The role marks another collaboration between mother and daughter with her Amandaland Co star Lucy.

The couple played together for the first time in the 2004 Jukebox Musical Fantasy Comedy, Ella Enchanted, where Dame Joanna played the bad stepmother Dame Olga, while Lucy played as one of the ‘Ugly Sisters’.

“Lucy and I met years and years ago when Anne Hathaway was just a babe who was enchanted,” she reminded.

The 78-year-old also revealed her scenes with grandchildren on the Miley Locke (Georgie) screen and Alexander Shaw (Manus) left her in awe.

‘It was a special sensation to collaborate with the two young, Miley and Alex, who played the children. They are really remarkable, great young people, “she said.

And it seems that they knew exactly how to place the experienced artist in her place.

“We as actors all think we can get away with it and say about the right lines, but not she, they just look at you with bead eyes and correct you,” she joked.

The young actors Miley Locke and Alexander Shaw – a descendant of the Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw – were absent at the premiere due to school obligations.

‘I would have pulled mine completely [children] For this’ Q&A host Amanda jokes.

When he was pressed about the possibility of an Amandaland Christmas Special, co-maker Holly Walsh remained tight lips.

“I can’t say! We just had one Christmas Amanda, let a year pass, “she teased.

But a whisper from a festive follow-up was difficult to ignore, because a source that attended the premiere heard a participant who praised the maker for ‘the special question of Christmas’ very well’ at the end of the session.

Allegedly Holly responded with a smile and a smile.

Clelia Mountford, co-founder of Merman said: ‘We are delighted to bring Amandaland to the BBC and to share the next chapter of the story of Amanda.
