Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job is ‘renewed for series two’ after drawing in over 15m viewers

‘This was a no-brainer recommissioning!’ Amanda Holden and Alan Carr’s BBC DIY show is ‘renewed for series two’ after drawing more than 15 million viewers

Amanda Holden and Alan Carr’s DIY show has reportedly been renewed for a second series, following its triumph earlier this year.

The BBC One programme, entitled Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job, saw the presenters buy two Sicilian flats for a euro each and take three months to convert them into one beautiful holiday home.

The eight-part series was watched by over 15 million people on the main TV channel and BBC iPlayer, and now it’s reportedly returning to the small screen.

And although the judges on Britain’s Got Talent, 52, and the comedian, 46, always have busy schedules, they’ve reportedly found time to film again in the summer – this time in Tuscany.

A source told The sun: ‘This was a no-brainer re-commissioning, in fact it was green-lit after Episode 1 aired. Continuing on an Italian theme, TV’s new golden duo will this time renovate a building in Tuscany and shooting will begin in a few weeks.

Well done! Amanda Holden and Alan Carr’s DIY show reportedly renewed for a second series, following triumph earlier this year

“Everyone is so excited. Series one raised over £100,000 for Comic Relief and Children In Need as their refurbished two bedroom, two bathroom apartment has been sold.

“Amanda and Alan are overwhelmed with the love shown for their TV chemistry and TV networks and production companies have scrambled to get Amanda and Alan into conference rooms to pitch new show ideas for the duo.”

The TV insider further claimed that these plans may not materialize until next year Amanda has BGT on her calendar, as well as daily hosting duties for Heart Breakfast.

Meanwhile, Alan is preparing to judge Mama Mia: I Have A Dream and his new biopic comedy Changing Ends is in production, according to claims.

MailOnline has contacted the BBC for comment, as well as representatives for Amanda and Alan.

In the show, the 1,300-square-foot apartment was completely overhauled — after the couple first found it abandoned, filled with trash and used by squatters.

Amanda and Alan tackled the property from the ground up and threw themselves into DIY jobs, from plastering to plumbing.

The beautiful flat is listed on Rightmove, with the description: ‘The three balconies offer breathtaking views of the countryside, making this the perfect place to watch the sunset.

‘It also comes with a shared walled courtyard, perfect for alfresco dining or simply soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine.’

In the final episode, the friends admired their work after each tackling a bedroom and bathroom and the living room and kitchen together.

The actress said, “It’s beautiful! Even though our tastes are very different, it has a very nice flow. I’m a little sad that it’s over. I really like it.’
