Manchester United winger Amad Diallo appeared to show his public support for Mason Greenwood after the striker made his debut for LaLiga team Getafe on Saturday.

Greenwood was loaned out to the Spanish side after it was mutually agreed that he would no longer play a role at Old Trafford after criminal charges against him were dropped.

His move was widely criticized but the Englishman was well backed by Getafe and their supporters as they welcomed his arrival at the club, where the player has been given the opportunity to restart his career.

The 21-year-old forward was forced to wait before making his debut as he attempts to rebuild his match fitness levels ahead of his final club appearance in January 2022.

Greenwood made his LaLiga debut in the 77th minute of Getafe’s 3-2 win over Osasuna on Saturday and was well supported by the home crowd, with many wearing shirts bearing his name.

He also received messages of support from his former United teammate Diallo, who took to social media to express his delight at having Greenwood back on the pitch.

Watching on television, Diallo posted a photo of Greenwood warming up in the dugout to his Instagram Story and captioned it with two heart emojis.

The Ivory Coast star spent last season on loan at Sunderland and was named the club’s young player of the year, but is currently sidelined due to injury.

Diallo joined from Atalanta for £37 million two years ago but has struggled to force his way into the first team, making just nine league appearances.

He made his debut in a 4–0 win over Real Sociedad in a Europa League match for United when he replaced Greenwood in the 83rd minute.

His public show of support for the exiled United star was the only acknowledgment from Greenwood’s former teammates, who have so far remained tight-lipped about the situation.
