Former lingerie store worker’s advice for customers as she shares a ‘disgusting’ trade secret
A former lingerie store employee has revealed the disgusting reason why you should buy your underwear online instead of going to the store.
Alyssa from Sydney says she often had to deodorise underwear sets and even remove stains before putting them back on the shelf.
‘One of the first things I learned when I started working was that a lot of people tried on lingerie without underwear.
They would make stains [the products] or they made them stink. We had to use Glen20 on the underwear and scrub it.’
Alyssa said that if they successfully cleaned the products, they would go back on the floor, otherwise the purchases would go to broken items.
‘I was shocked when they told me that I [clean the underwear] because it was literally disgusting.’
The former employee stressed that online shopping was the solution.
‘Just order them online and if you really can’t remember, give them a quick wash and scrub – unless they have tape on them that you know won’t come off.’

Alyssa was shocked that the brand required employees to wash the dirty garments at all.
“This brand makes so much money, just throw away the $5 underwear you pay thousands of dollars for and buy new,” she said.
Some were stunned by the “gross” revelation, but others were less surprised.
“That’s why I always wash myself before I wear anything, no matter what it is,” one person said.
