A teacher has been arrested on rape charges after she had sex with an 11-year-old boy in a car outside his school in Connecticut.

Alyson Cranick, 42, was charged with two first-degree counts of assault and three counts of risk of injury to a minor.

She is said to have had a two-month sexual relationship with a young boy in 2022 when he was 11 and 12 years old. The incident was first reported in September 2023.

The boy told police that the two “had sexual intercourse in her car” at Horace Porter School — an elementary through eighth grade school — and that he “snuck out of his house at least fourteen times” during the night around Cranick to meet. .

State Troopers said Cranick turned himself in on Tuesday and appeared at Rockville Court.

The arrest warrant showed the victim told police he and Cranick communicated via iMessage and SnapChat.

Police obtained hundreds of flirtatious and sexual text messages exchanged between Cranick and the minor.

NBC Connecticut The warrant also revealed that Cranick had made the boy a bracelet that read “BFFLWB,” which stands for “Best Friends for Life With Benefits.”

The boy told police she waited for him at night by “hiding behind a bush on a neighbor’s property” or walking to his house.

During an interview with the former teacher, Cranick told authorities that she did not initiate sexual contact with the minor and that she “downplayed any inappropriate reason for communicating with the boy.”

She further said that she was only comforting the child because he was afraid of family problems.

Cranick was a paraprofessional in the Columbia School District and most recently an administrative assistant at EO Smith High School in Mansfield, according to school officials.

She was later dismissed from high school after the state completed its investigation.

In a statement from the Columbia School District, Interim Superintendent Barabara Wilson said, “It is with great regret that I have to share this information with you today. As educators, we are entrusted to protect and educate all of our students.”

“Maintaining appropriate relationships between faculty and students and ensuring the safety and well-being of our students at all times are critical,” Wilson said.

Parents of students at the school were too distraught to comment on the situation when asked Eyewitness News 3.

Cranick’s parents were told by the judge to pay 10 percent of the $500,000 bond. They wanted to take her back to her home state of Pennsylvania, but were told she couldn’t leave Connecticut.

Cranick is a married mother of two who regularly posts photos of her son and daughter on social media.

In the letter to parents, Wilson further said that anyone with concerns about the case is “encouraged” to contact her, police or the state Department of Children and Families.

“My hope is that this horrific and abhorrent situation will not cast a shadow on the important work done by the teachers and staff of the Columbia School District who provide excellent education and a safe environment for our students every day.”
