Alvaro Morata has been hospitalized after suffering a nasty head injury during AC Milan training.
The Spaniard made the switch to Italy this summer and has struggled to find his best form, but did manage to get himself on the scoresheet in their recent victory over Real Madrid.
The former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid forward fired in from close range to help restore Milan’s lead, before eventually finding a crucial third goal late in the match.
The 32-year-old seemed to have found his feet in Milan after that performance, but will now be on the sidelines for a while.
In a statement released on Thursday, Milan confirmed that Morata had suffered a head injury during training and had been rushed to hospital.

It comes just days after the Spaniard scored in AC Milan’s 3-1 win over Real Madrid
“After a collision this morning during training, Morata suffered severe skull trauma,” Milan said in a statement.
‘He was rushed to hospital where an MRI scan returned negative results. Alvaro is feeling better and remains in hospital under observation to comply with protocol for similar cases.”
Sky Italy reports that Morata suffered the head injury after a collision during training with centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic.
He is expected to stay in hospital overnight and miss Saturday’s match in Sardinia.
Last month, Morata admitted that “there was a time when I couldn’t tie my boots anymore” as he began his battle with “depression” of recent years.
Speaking to El Partidazo, Morata said: ‘When you have really hard times, depression, panic attacks, it doesn’t matter what job you do, what situation you have in life, there is another person inside you that you have to fight against . day and every night. For me, leaving Spain was the best option; I couldn’t stand it.”
The Spaniard made the move to AC Milan this summer, fresh from captaining Spain to the European Championship title after beating England in the final.
About his time in Spain he said: ‘I had a very bad time. I thought I wouldn’t be able to put my shoes on and get on the field.

‘But anyway, thanks to a lot of people, from Simeone, Koke, Miguel Ángel Gil last year, my psychiatrist, my coach… we are what you see on TV and on social media, but often it’s not real.
‘You have to give an image, because it is your job. I had a really bad time, I exploded and there came a time when I couldn’t tie my boots anymore, and when I did I ran home because my throat closed up and my vision started to blur.
‘Three months before the European Championship I wondered if I would be able to play another match. I didn’t know what was happening to me, but it is very complicated and delicate. That’s when you realize that what you love most in the world is what you hate most, it’s complicated.
“Every time I went out with them I would always have an episode, sometimes without malice, with people about something that had happened in previous games.”
