Anti-woke Matt Walsh American unleashes at Alone Australia with blistering

The Australian version of the TV show ‘Alone’ has been hammered in a scathing review by an American right-wing political activist.

In a blistering tweet, author, podcaster and columnist Matt Walsh describes Alone Australia as ‘unintentionally the funniest thing on TV right now’.

Alone Australia is an Australian survival competition series based on the popular American version.

The show premiered on SBS in March 2023.

The SBS website advertises the show: ‘Ten Australians are dropped off alone in separate areas of remote wilderness where they face the forces of nature, hunger and loneliness.’

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh (pictured left) called out Alone Australia, which airs on SBS

Mr. Walsh begins his tweet by writing that he and his wife are enjoying watching the American version of Alone, which features “gritty, skilled survivors.”

‘We just found out there’s an Australian version and started watching. Unintentionally the funniest thing on TV right now. It’s basically “Alone: DEI Edition.”

“DEI” is the abbreviation for “diversity, equity and inclusion.”

Mr Walsh writes that Alone Australia meets all diversity criteria by including two lesbians and “two (who) claim to be Indigenous.”

‘Ten participants. Two are lesbians. Two claim to be indigenous. One of the lesbians stopped after one night.

“One of the native boys made a big show about connecting with nature etc., cried and quit after one night.”

He writes about how a “Gen Z environmentalist” requested a medical evacuation after testing positive for COVID-19.

“Another native man tried to eat a poisonous centipede.”

Mr. Walsh concludes his review by writing, “The American version features gritty, skilled survivors.

‘The Australian version was more concerned about ticking diversity boxes so that the contestants are completely clueless, incompetent and just cry through the whole thing.

‘Highly recommended. Very funny stuff. And a great cautionary tale. Highly recommended.’

“Apparently they sent the participants into the wilderness with COVID testing.

“And they start every episode with a country confirmation. Plus, they have a lot of environmental regulations that prohibit them from hunting almost any game. Like I said, it’s hilarious.’

The majority of responses to Mr Walsh’s tweet agreed with his view of Alone Australia.

‘Remember when Australians were seen as the strong, manly, self-sufficient and toughest guys in the world? Yeah, wtf happened?,” someone said.

A second added: ‘Aussies used to be made of sterner stuff.’

“The Australian TV networks have drank every drop of DEI Kool Aid,” said another.

A third agreed: “That’s the only season I couldn’t finish. What a joke.’

A fourth said: ‘As an avid Alone viewer and lover of the show you can’t imagine how utterly embarrassing it was to watch as an Australian.’

“Numerous applicants are obvious diversity hires and are nowhere near capable survivors – evidenced by the fact that two applicants opted out on the second day, without attempting to find food or shelter,” they said.

Mr Walsh’s tweet has been viewed 2.2 million times, with 18,000 likes and 1,300 retweets.
