Ally Langdon reveals how her hosting gig at A Current Affair helped her marriage to husband Mike Willesee Jr, as she admits what she really thinks of her former Today co-host Karl Stefanovic

Ally Langdon says her role on A Current Affair has helped her marriage and family life in the best way possible.

The 44-year-old Channel Nine presenter has been happily married to former journalist and now director Michael Willesee Jr. for fifteen years. and has two children: son Mack, seven, and daughter Scout, four.

Speaking exclusively to Ny Breaking Australia at a media event hosted by the network at QT Melbourne on Friday, Ally revealed that her ‘much friendlier schedule’ at A Current Affair has given her more flexibility to be with her family compared to her early shifts . host of the Today show.

“My husband likes me better,” she explained. “And I like him better!”

The journalist, who switched from morning hosting to weekday evenings last year, added that her service at the ACA desk has many benefits.

‘I think my brain goes into work mode around 9am. But I have a good time with the kids because I don’t see them at night; they’re already asleep when I get home,” Ally said.

“But the (ACA) schedule changes, you know? One of the nice things about this job is that no day is the same.

‘We still do very big days, I photograph a lot of stories during the day and in the evenings I give a lot of live lessons. It’s great work.’

But despite its benefits, Ally admitted she misses her time on the Today show and 60 Minutes.

“I missed 60 Minutes when I went on the Today show. And I miss the Today show now that I’m on ACA,” the mother of two continued.

‘But (ACA) brings both together: I’m on the road, I do stories, we still do live crosses. So there’s an element of both in this job.’

She also complimented her old team at Today: “Hats off to the entire morning crew. You underestimate the impact that if you’re tired all the time, that means you’re a little shorter…that patience that you have.”

“I have a little piece of that back,” she added, laughing. ‘Not all, but a little!’

In a candid confession, Ally revealed what she really thinks of her former Today co-host Karl Stefanovic, who now shares the desk with Sarah Abo.

The blonde presenter confessed that she misses her old hosting partner, but still makes time to see him outside of work.

“Actually yes (Miss Karl),” she told Ny Breaking Australia.

“I love this new role and it’s even more than I thought it could be, so there are no regrets. But we got to know each other so well when we worked closely together during those hours.

‘Karl and I have been friends for more than twenty years. We hang out outside of work, and I really miss him… Like, I see him for a Friday or Saturday night dinner, and I’m reminded of all the things that really annoyed me about him! And then on Monday morning I realize he’s not my problem, it’s Sarah’s!’

Channel Nine confirmed in December 2022 that Ally would be leaving her co-hosting role on Today to replace Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair.

60 Minutes reporter Sarah Abo stepped in to fill Ally’s spot alongside Karl Stefanovic as the new co-host of Today.

Before her role on Today, Ally was a reporter at 60 Minutes for almost a decade.

During her time on the leading current affairs program she interviewed the Backstreet Boys, Neil Diamond, Kevin Rudd and tennis bad boy Bernard Tomic.

She also had encounters with gorillas in Virunga National Park, leopard seals in Antarctica and great white sharks off the coast of South Africa.

In February 2023, Ally said her husband was “incredibly proud” of her for landing the role of host of A Current Affair.
