Allison Langdon was in tears on Monday’s Today show as she discussed her late father-in-law Mike Willesee and her impending move to A Current Affair.
The TV presenter, 43, told co-host Karl Stefanovic that hosting ACA would be an emotional experience as Mike held the same position.
“It’s something very special for the family if I’m being honest,” a tearful Ally admitted.

Ally said her husband Mike Willesee Jr. was thrilled to see her step into his late father’s shoes.
“It’s something special for Mike. It has surprised me how much emotion he has had around it,” she said.
She tearfully admitted that her exciting news would have been even better if Mike Sr. still lived to share it.

Ally said the “thought of how nice it would be if he had been here” raced through her mind.
On Sunday, Allison was officially announced as the new host of A Current Affair.
The star of the Today show will take on the coveted role on the current affairs program in the new year, after longtime host Tracy Grimshaw stepped down in September.

Channel Nine shared the news on A Current Affair’s official Instagram account on Sunday, praising Allison as one of “Australia’s most fearless and respected journalists”.
“In 2023, Ally Langdon will take the host seat of A Current Affair following the retirement of longtime host Tracy Grimshaw,” the announcement read.
