A man has been charged with a series of offenses after a young woman was hit by an out-of-control van that crashed into a shop, trapping her underneath.
Emergency services were called to a supermarket on Hornsey Road, Homebush West in Sydney's inner west after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle while walking on the footpath.
First responders found a 27-year-old woman pinned between the van and the building.
Police suspect that the driver fled after hitting the woman and did not provide assistance.

The woman was freed from the wreckage by firefighters and taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.
Police have cordoned off a crime scene and the Crash Investigation Unit has launched an investigation into the incident.
Police arrested two men nearby a short time later.
One man was taken to nearby Auburn Police Station where he reportedly returned a breathalyzer reading of 0.133, almost five times the legal limit.
The man was charged with a series of offences: dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm – drink driving, dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm – dangerous driving, failing to stop and assist after a collision causing serious bodily harm and negligent driving (cases of serious bodily harm).

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday.
The second man arrested was taken to Westmead Hospital for observation. No charges have yet been filed against the second man.
