The Stardew Valley While the community is alive and well thanks to the recent 1.6 update, fans are still excited about the brand new game from creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. The developer’s next game, Harried chocolatieris in the works, and it already looks like it will capture many of its charms Stardew Valley.
Since announcement Harried chocolatier in 2021, Barone is juggling its development while simultaneously releasing major updates to Stardew Valley. Barone started working on the game in 2020, but we don’t know how far along development is as we only occasional fragments out of the game. Most recently, he said he was “eager” to get back into it, but that he has to make sure that Stardew Valley 1.6 has been “completed, without bugs and to all platforms first.”

He just dropped the 1.6.3 Stardew Valley solutions for PC on March 27 and doesn’t yet have a release date for when the update will come to console, so there’s more news to come.

What will the gameplay be like in Haunted Chocolatier?
Fans of Stardew Valley will immediately recognize some of them Harried chocolatier‘gameplay elements from the trailer. The game carries Barone’s signature style, combining stunningly detailed pixel art with a lush soundtrack. However, the biggest difference between the two will be the core gameplay and combat. According to a 2021 blog post, the game will feature more action-RPG elements and a greater emphasis on combat. Instead of wanting the game to feel scary, Barone said he intends for the game to be “positive, uplifting and life-affirming.” He said: “If Stardew Valley mainly channels the energy of the sun, Haunted Chocolatier channels the energy of the moon. Both are vital.”
Fans are already excited to meet the characters in this new world. Barone released a screenshot of an unnamed character that resembles one grandpa or maybe a magician; the trailer also showed us several new faces. You can read more about the characters below, but keep in mind that these descriptions are based on our own observations of the footage. Some details are unconfirmed and may change.
- Lily, a young possibly single woman who appears to invite the character into a beautiful desert-themed room.
- Burk, a burly, bald man with a thick beard. He seems like he maintains an oven, but he also just seems like a sweaty guy.
- Maddie, a person with a bit of a soft gothic look who asks the player character what it’s like to live in the city.
- Jett, a researcher with a mess of hair. I just want to know if he will be Sebastian from this game.
- Miguel, a bartender who also has a bald head and some very furrowed eyebrows.
Is Haunted Chocolatier just Stardew Valley 2?
Barone said he wants that Harried chocolatier to have its own identity, so it probably won’t be a direct sequel. (Sorry for those of you who wanted to pack with you Star Dew husband and live your best chocolate life together!) Still, the game will at least have some kind of connection Star Dewthe world, but Barone has not yet decided how deep it will be.
Will Haunted Chocolatier have multiplayer?
Fans who played Stardew Valley with friends using the local co-op and online multiplayer modes, you may be wondering if Harried chocolatier supports similar gameplay. According to the game’s FAQ, there is only single-player and Barone has “no current plans” to add multiplayer.

The only platform we know Harried chocolatier will definitely come out on a Windows PC, according to the frequently asked questions. But it’s not like all hope is lost for other platforms. Barone said he imagines the game will have that “about the same system requirements” as Stardew Valley. Barring any backwards compatibility issues, “he could imagine people being able to play it on the same systems (like Stardew Valley).”
Stardew Valley is available to play on macOS, mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. It is also available to play on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series I’m not going to get my hopes up Harried chocolatier on PlayStation Vita in the year 2024, but it looks like players won’t have to worry about platform exclusivity.
