All the Good Omens season 2 news we’ve heard so far

The fact that Good omens has an upcoming second season is still a bit of a shock. After all, the former so lovingly and wonderfully adapted the self-contained book that shares its name. What else could a second season add, especially now that one of the co-writers, Terry Pratchett, has since passed away?

But more than 30 years ago, Pratchett and co-writer Neil Gaiman dreamed up a possible sequel they never got around to writing, and this second season takes some of their ideas into an all-new story for the unspeakable world of Good omens. Demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale, who just saved the world from an impending doomsday, return in this new season for an adventure unknown. Here’s everything we know about the second season of Good omens.

When does Good Omens season 2 come out?

Good omens Season 2 will be released on Prime Video on July 28. It will be six episodes long.

Who will star in Season 2 of Good Omens?

David Tennant and Michael Sheen play demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale. Also returning are Jon Hamm as Archangel Gabriel, Doon Mackichan as Archangel Michael and Gloria Obianyo as Archangel Uriel. A handful of season one actors return but play different characters, such as Miranda Richardson, who originally played clairvoyant Madame Tracy but now plays a demon named Shax, and Maggie Service and Nina Sosanya who played nuns in the first season but are now owners of neighboring companies (named Maggie and Nina, respectively).

Joining the cast this season is Quelin Sepulveda as the courageous and naive angel Muriel, Liz Carr as the angel Saraqael and Shelly Conn as the new face of the demon Beelzebub (scheduling conflicts prevented Anna Maxwell Martin, who started the role, returned).

Is Neil Gaiman still involved?

Sure! Neil Gaiman serves as executive producer and co-showrunner. If you follow him tumblrhas he offered trickles of information about the second season (although most questions are answered with his signature “Wait and see.”)

“I did it mainly because I thought Terry would have enjoyed it,” Gaiman said in a Prime Video YouTube clip from New York Comic Con 2022.

What is Good Omens season 2 about?

Since there’s no book precedent for a sequel, we don’t really know a lot of about what’s going to happen. Gaiman and director Douglas Mackinnon cryptically revealed a little bit of information at last year’s New York Comic Con panel.

“It will be about six episodes,” said Gaiman.

“And Aziraphale and Crowley will be in it,” added Good Omens director Douglas Mackinnon.

“I will say there are some love stories in there,” Gaiman continued. “I will say that you will learn a lot about Jane Austen that you did not know before. There is much more heaven and much more hell.”

Prime Video released a slightly more detailed recap:

Season two of Good omens explores storylines beyond the original source material to shed light on the uncanny friendship between Aziraphale, a fastidious angel and rare bookseller, and the fast-living demon Crowley. Aziraphale and Crowley have been on Earth since The Beginning, and with the Apocalypse thwarted, they find their lives easy again among the mortals of London’s Soho when an unexpected messenger presents a startling mystery.

WAIT DO THEIR WINGS FORM A HEART ON THE POSTER?!

It certainly looks like that 🙂
