All the big games, reveals, and trailers from Ubisoft Forward

If you’re the type who likes icon-saturated card games, then Ubisoft Forward – the French mega-publisher’s non-E3 event for 2023 – was actually a holiday. Monday’s showcase featured no shortage of the open-world games Ubisoft is known for, plus a handful of licensed games (appropriate Ubisoft versions of their respective franchises). By Assassin’s Creed Mirage Unpleasant Star Wars banditshere are all the big announcements and reveals from Ubisoft Forward.

Avatar: Limits of Pandora

Ubisoft Forward opened with two trailers for it Avatars: Limits of Pandorathe video game spin-off of James Cameron’s billion-dollar sci-fi movie franchise, which is much like Far Cry: Pandora Edition in a gameplay overview. Cameron also had a few words saying he always wanted to “embrace technology to find new ways outside of the cinema to immerse people in this world.” Avatar: Limits of Pandora will be released on December 7 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.

x Challenging

x Challenging, a free-to-play multiplayer shooter best described as “Tom Clancy’s Smash Bros.”, has an open session on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S from June 21-23. The full game will be released later this summer at an as-yet unknown date. x Challenging includes a heavy live service component, with Ubisoft promising one new map per month.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Prince of Persia returns as a side scroller with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Ubisoft briefly highlighted the gameplay during Summer Game Fest on Thursday, but aired a more extended clip during Ubisoft Forward, showcasing the combat and time-altering mechanics of this “semi-open world” platformer. The Lost Crown is out January 18, 2024 for Amazon Luna, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The resurrection of the division

Put a trailer on Bloc Party and you can literally make anything look cool, including The resurrection of the division, a free-to-play mobile spin-off of Ubisoft’s apocalypse shooter franchise. It will be out in the fall of 2023.

Skull bones

from Ubisoft turbulent Skull bones has been delayed (a lot), and if you were expecting a release date from Ubisoft Forward, sorry! However, the pirate game is getting a closed beta from August 25-28 – news that Ubisoft announced alongside, er, a sailor song from Home for free. And they said E3 was dead!

The Crew Motorfest

The Crew Motorfestthe third entry in Ubisoft’s racing series (and the first since 2018’s). The crew 2), is set in Hawaii. In terms of vibes, it seems more Forza Horizon than Forza Motorsportwith a playful tone and an open world. The Crew Motorfest comes out on September 14, but has a closed beta from July 21 to 23.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR

Assassin’s Creed gets eerily close to its source material with Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, which allows you to wear advanced technology and experience the history of people from a billion years ago. Nexus VR is coming to Meta Quest 2 and will star franchise protagonists, Ezio (Assassin’s Creed 2), Kassandra (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey) and Connor (Assassin’s Creed 3).

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Ubisoft has finally revealed gameplay for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, billed as a return to form for the franchise – in other words, more parkour and stealth, less micromanaging RPG stats, and comically large open worlds. With Shohreh Aghdashloo (The expanseMass Effect) and Lee Majdoub (Sonic the Hedgehog), Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a precursor of Assassin’s Creed Valhallacompleting the story of Basim Ibn Ishaq who also appeared in that game. Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released on October 12 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Star Wars bandits

Star Wars bandits is the Star Wars game that Ubisoft first announced in 2021. While it was initially revealed during Sunday’s Xbox Showcase, that trailer was entirely cinematic. Ubisoft Forward, meanwhile, showed off some real gameplay for the third-person shooter. Protagonist Kay Vess sneaks around a facility before being spotted, after which a shootout ensues. Kay can also direct Nix — Outlawsrequired Cute Star Wars Creature – to distract enemies and interact with the environment. Monday’s footage features chase sequences, dogfights, and exactly zero lightsabers (we’ve had enough of that, to be honest). Star Wars bandits is scheduled for 2024.
