While you explore Diablo 4of the five unique regions, you will encounter 15 of them strongholds — three in each region. Strongholds are enemy-filled locations – concentrations of the various bad guys you’ll encounter in the wider world – that have taken over small parts of Sanctuary. Once you take out the enemies and complete a Stronghold’s job, the non-demon inhabitants of Sanctuary will return, sometimes giving you access to a Waypoint or Merchants.

All Stronghold locations
There are a total of 15 Strongholds in Sanctuary, with three each in the Fractured Peaks, Scosglen, the Dry Steppes, Kehjistan, and Hawezar.

- In the Dry steppesyou will find The ruins of Qara-Yisu, The Temple of RotAnd The Onyx Watchtower strongholds.
- In Kehjistanyou will find The Altar of Doom, AlcarnusAnd Omath’s redoubt strongholds.
- In Hawezardo you find the Crusaders Monument, VyereszAnd Eriman’s funeral pyre strongholds.
Stronghold Completion Rewards
Aside from the standard loot and gold drops you get for killing a bunch of enemies, completing a Stronghold has real benefits when you explore Sanctuary.
At least one Stronghold in each region unlocks a previously inaccessible Waypoint. Additionally, once the monsters are removed from certain Strongholds, the humans will return – specifically healers and vendors such as blacksmiths.
However, not every Stronghold becomes a Marketplace or Waypoint. However, any Stronghold will allow you 100 fame. If you complete all three Strongholds in a region, that 300 fame will cover most of the first two reward levels for that region.
