Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher shocked fans when they announced they had split after 14 years of marriage.

The British actor, 52, and the Australian actress, 48, announced they had quietly split last year by sharing a bizarre photo on Friday as they posed in tennis outfits.

Their statement read: ‘After a long tennis match of more than twenty years, we finally put down our rackets.

‘In 2023 we jointly filed an application to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy and have been working through this change quietly.

“We share forever in our devotion and love for our children. We very much appreciate that you respect our family’s wishes for privacy.’

Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed that there have been indications that all was not well for the couple for a while now.

In recent weeks, Isla seems to have found solace with her friends as she has enjoyed several girls’ nights out.

She recently shared a photo of herself enjoying a night out with her friends Michelle Dockery, Naomi Watts and film producer Bruna Papandrea.

Isla captioned the snap: ‘Girls’ night at the theatre’. It came shortly after she was pictured with Rosamund Pike at an event in LA.

The Australian actress has also hidden her ring finger in recent weeks.

In a photo she shared in March, Isla strategically hid her hand behind the fabric of her dress as she posed in front of an elevator.

Since missing wedding rings are a sure sign that a couple is on the rocks, fans will suspect that Isla was trying to hide her divorce from Sacha at the time.

But the clearest sign that there was trouble in paradise was that Isla hadn’t shared a photo with Sacha in a long time.

Their most recent photo together was taken in November, showing them smiling as they posed with bottles of beer. She captioned it: ‘Off screen date & on screen date’.

Isla made no mention of the split during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show in February, where she referenced her and Sacha’s Valentine’s Day traditions.

She said: ‘Every year Sacha gives me a card that says: ‘Happy about…’ and then there is a huge question mark. As if anyone else would send me one! As if I have any other Valentines: I’m a mother of three!’

Insiders claim their marriage has been ‘shaky’ for years, with Sacha reportedly struggling after making the ‘sacrifice’ of moving their family to Australia in 2020.

“Their marriage has been rocky for years,” an insider exclusively told DailyMail.com. ‘The breakdown started when they moved to Australia so she could be closer to her family. But it left Sacha distant from everyone he knows.

“He made this sacrifice for her and would make many sacrifices for her throughout their marriage. He is deeply affected by their separation, because she was his life for many years.’

The couple, who married in 2010, are now working on the ‘best arrangement’ for their three children, two teenage daughters and a nine-year-old son – with Isla currently the one with custody.

“She has custody of the children and they are still working on the best arrangement so Sacha can be an active part of their lives,” the source continued.

‘They have a lot of love for each other, but they didn’t get along and have become different people than they were at the beginning of their relationship. They wanted different things in life in terms of their careers.

“They had a prenup, but it’s still very difficult because everything they had is bought for both of them and their family together.”

The insider insisted that infidelity had played no role in the breakdown of their marriage and that neither party was dating anyone new.

They ended with, “There was no cheating on either side and they don’t see anyone else.”

The now estranged couple met at a party in Australia in 2002 before getting engaged in 2004.

Isla, who likened meeting the actor to “winning the lottery”, converted to Judaism before they tied the knot in a Jewish ceremony in Paris in March 2010.

And now Rebel, 44, has taken to social media to share a video of himself posing up a storm in a satin green dress, with the caption: ‘What a week!’

In the short clip, Rebel is photographed laying back on the couch as she works to promote her bombshell memoir.

Dressed in the glamorous wrap dress, Rebel stuck her tongue out and gave the peace sign as Stop by the Spice Girls played in the background.

In a second clip, Rebel is pictured standing, posing confidently with her arms crossed over her chest as Kylie Minogue’s Padam Padam plays.

Rebel also shared a link on her story to her live show in Los Angeles, where she will “sit in person with Jess Cagle” to discuss her controversial new memoir.

After posting a link to tickets to the show, the star also promoted her new book, revealing that while the book is on sale in the US, it’s not quite ready for sale in Britain and Australia.

She wrote: ‘UK and AUS delayed by a gap, but not for long.’

Although Sacha has vehemently denied ever assaulting Rebel or pressuring her to be naked in the film, Friends of the star couple have revealed that the allegations were the final straw in the decision to make their split public.

A source said The sun Isla began to feel “embarrassed” by the claims in the book, which acted as “a catalyst” in her decision to announce their split and allowed her to protect her “own career and reputation.”
