Former All Black Byron Kelleher has reportedly been found guilty of domestic violence by a Paris court.

French media report that he has been given a six-month suspended prison sentence for attacking his former partner after returning to France to see their son.

According to AFP, Kelleher, who won 57 caps for his country, has been ordered to pay a fine of $1,641 and $1,276 to his victim.

The former scrum-half denied the attack, but AFP’s report on the trial said the court heard Kelleher attacked the woman while she was under the influence of alcohol. She claimed he dragged her down a hallway by her hair.

Kelleher has a checkered past and was found guilty of domestic violence in 2017 after being accused of damaging the front door of his own property while drunk before attacking his then partner.

His lawyer described the incident as a “dispute between lovers,” but the prosecutor said the “violence was not colossal, but it did exist,” as he fined him $274.

He got into trouble in 2009 after being involved in a brawl following a drink-driving collision in Toulouse, while he was also arrested for drink-driving in Bordeaux four years later.
