There were big expectations for Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase this year, the first summer event since the $68.7 billion merger between Activision Blizzard and Microsoft in 2023. “It’s the biggest moment of the year to imagine the future of gaming with Xbox to show,” Xbox Wire editor Joe Skrebels wrote in a press release prior to the event.
The Xbox Games Showcase featured a range of games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, Xbox Game Studios and third-party developers. Immediately after the broadcast, Microsoft and Activision dedicated the second block of their own showcase Call of Duty: Black Ops6.

Call of Duty: Black Ops6
Call of Duty: Black Ops6 will be released on October 25 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It will also come to Xbox Game Pass on launch day.
Doom: the Dark Ages
Microsoft and id Software debuted Doom: the Dark Ages, which takes the Doom Slayer back in time. It’s coming to Xbox Game Pass on launch day, which is expected sometime in 2025. The trailer showed off all the good stuff you’d expect from a Doom game – plus what appears to be the Doom Slayer riding a dragon.
State of disrepair 3
State of disrepair 3 is set “years” after the zombie apocalypse, as a sequel State of disrepair 2. First revealed in 2020, the game’s latest trailer gives a taste of what to expect from the title. However, there is no release date yet.
Dragon Age: Veil Guard
The new Dragon Age: Veil Guard trailer set the tone for the upcoming game, showing off a group of allies you can expect to play alongside when the game releases. It’s coming in 2024.
Starfield: Shattered Space (and more)
StarfieldThe game’s first expansion looks to tackle the creepiness of space and is coming to consoles and PC in 2024. But Starfield is also getting a smaller update with new bounties and other content created by Bethesda and the Starfield community.
Fallout 76
Fallout 76 is getting a new update, Skyline Valley, in which vault residents can play as ghouls in early 2025. It’s a new region of Appalachia, with new mysteries galore. It’s coming out on June 12 and, again, day one on Game Pass.
Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33
Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33 is the debut game from Sandfall Interactive. It’s like a role-playing game where you want to save humanity from certain destruction. It will release on Xbox Series X in 2025.
South of midnight
Microsoft and Compulsion Games are finally going to say more about what South of midnight actually is. From the makers of We lucky few, South of midnight is a beautifully stylized game – set in a fantasy swamp after a hurricane – coming to Xbox consoles and Windows PC. It will be released in 2025.
World of Warcraft: The War Within
Blizzard will release on August 26th World of Warcraft‘s next expansion, The war within. “Now, at the dawn of a new saga, darkness calls from the heart of the world,” Blizzard wrote on YouTube.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of 2004 Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It is expected to have a “more modern control style” while showcasing the original story and world of the game. There is no release date.
Sea of thieves
Sea of thieves’ The 13th season will be released on July 25, where you can become an evil pirate: a bad guy! — on the high seas.
Flintock: The Siege of Dawn
Flintock: The Siege of Dawn will be released on Xbox consoles and Windows PC on July 18. From the makers of Ashenthe game is an ‘explosive Souls-lite’ with lots of ‘god-killing action RPG’ gameplay.
Age of Mythology: Retold
Age of mythologyfrom the makers of Age of empires, is more than history: it expands into mythology and the worlds of ‘gods, monsters and men’. The game will be released on September 4 for Xbox Series X and Windows PC.
Perfectly dark
Perfectly dark is back! It’s the first look Perfectly dark‘s gameplay since its announcement, and it didn’t disappoint. There is no release date.
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hate
A new character class, region, and story are coming in October Diablo 4 with the Vessel of hatred expansion. Blizzard Entertainment debuted the opening cinematic during the Xbox Games Showcase – an emotional, devastating and gruesome return to the world of Diablo.
Fable
Microsoft showed off a cheeky trailer for it Fable, expected in 2025. Unfortunately, there’s still no release date for this one.
Fragpunk
Fragpunk is a five-on-five shooter with a twist: cards. It’s coming in 2025.
Winterhol
A game where a little mouse returns home devastated, creating a new home and searching for his aunt. Just a little boy, coming in 2025.
Mix tape
From the makers of The Cunning Escape, Mixtape is a mysterious coming of age story told through music. This is expected to be in 2025.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Become a commercial pilot Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, or work in agriculture, search and rescue, freight transport or aerial firefighting. Hit the air on November 19.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Golden Way
For The Elder Scrolls Online‘s 10th anniversary, Microsoft releases Golden Way on June 18.
Life is strange: double exposure
The next installment in the Life is Strange franchise is a jump between realities, once again starring Max Caulfield. She promised never to use her power again, but now she must save her friend. The game comes to Windows PC and Xbox Series X on October 29.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Finally, a look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. There’s a boulder! The game will be released in 2024 for Windows PC and Xbox Series X, but there is no official release date yet.
Mecha break
It’s not Gundam, but it looks like it! It comes out in August.
Wuchang: fallen feathers
Announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, Wuchang: fallen feathers is a soul-like set in the late Ming Dynasty. It will be released on Xbox Game Pass on day one in 2025.
Granted
“Explore the Living Lands, a mysterious island full of adventure and danger,” Microsoft described Granted on Youtube. “As Aedyr’s envoy, you are sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague with a secret that threatens to destroy everything.” Coming in 2024.
Atomic fall
Atomic fall is a single-player survival game set after a nuclear disaster in Great Britain. The game will come to Windows PC and Xbox Series X in 2025.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the next installment of the iconic franchise, releasing on November 15 on Xbox consoles and Windows PC. The first look at the game’s gameplay shows a lot of promise.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl
GSC Game World, from Ukraine, will be released on September 5. The developer described the game as a “vast, limitless open world and non-linear story.”
New Xbox Series X consoles

Gears of War: E-Day
Gears of War: E-Day looks as brutal as ever, but the trailer also had some touching moments of teamwork and camaraderie, despite a world in chaos. It is the sixth installment of the franchise, but there is no release date yet.
