The four Premier League stoppers make up a 10-man shortlist for the prize that also includes Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer.

Yassine Bounou of Sevilla, Real Madrid ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan and Kevin Trapp of Eintracht Frankfurt complete the nominees.

Chelsea’s Mendy will hope to go one better than last year, where he was beaten to the prestigious award by AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, while Oblak was third.

Alisson, who enjoyed another superb 12 month for Liverpool, is the only other previous winner of the award after receiving the inaugural prize in 2019, when Manchester City’s Ederson was third.

The Liverpool ‘keeper and Ederson have been nominated again after sharing last season’s Golden Glove having both kept 20 clean sheets in the Premier League.

Nominees

Alisson Becker (Liverpool)

Ederson (Man City)

Edouard Mendy (Chelsea)

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)

Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid)

Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid)

 Yassine Bounou (Sevilla)

Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich)

Mike Maignan (AC Milan)

Ederson was a vital part of the City squad that won the title, while Alisson lifted the FA Cup and Carabao Cup with Liverpool.

Courtois makes the list after a standout campaign for Real that culminated in victory over Liverpool in the Champions League final, which came after his side had clinched the LaLiga crown.

The Belgian is the favourite to win the Yashin Trophy following his and his team’s success last season.

Tottenham and France captain Lloris completes the nominees from the Premier League. There is no place for Manchester United’s David de Gea, who was arguably his team’s best performer in a dismal campaign for the Old Trafford club.

Three of those shortlisted – Courtois, Bounou and Oblak – ply their trade in LaLiga, while there are two from the Bundesliga in Neuer and Trapp, the latter a Europa League winner with Frankfurt.

Maignan is the sole representative from Serie ‘A’ on the list, revealed by organisers on Friday.

The event in 2020 was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
