Fans have reacted on social media after a disastrous mistake by Alisson and Virgil van Dijk in Arsenal’s win over Liverpool on Sunday.
In a match with major title implications for both teams, Mikel Arteta’s side seized the initiative and struck first, with Bukayo Saka firing the Gunners ahead after just 14 minutes.
Liverpool leveled on the brink of half-time, with Gabriel turning the ball into his own net with just seconds left in the break.
Both sides tried to take control of proceedings after the break, but it was Arsenal who would ultimately take the lead again after a moment of madness in the Reds defence.
As a high through ball sailed towards the visitors’ penalty area, a miscommunication between Van Dijk and his goalkeeper left the pair in no man’s land, with Gabriel Martinelli on hand to add to their misery and restore Arsenal’s lead.

Liverpool fans reacted angrily on social media in the aftermath, questioning how the pair had failed to save the ball together.
One wrote: ‘They both could have arranged that. Virgil could have cleared it and had it horribly missed completely by Alisson. Terrible play and performance. Bad day.’
Another agreed: ‘Van Dijk gets beaten by a smaller opponent, while Alisson stupidly comes flying out trying to execute a Booker T scissor kick. Miserable.’

Substitute Leandro Trossard then put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time, driving his stoppage time between Alisson’s legs to compound the injury for the hapless goalkeeper.
