The saying goes that politics is show business for ugly people, but the beautiful people of Hollywood have become deeply involved in the recent political unrest in the US.
George Clooney hosted a fundraiser for President Joe Biden, and urged him to resign days before doing so.
Since then, Jamie Lee Curtis and singer Katy Perry have thrown their support behind Biden’s vice president, Kamala Harris. Robert De Niro has also spoken out: “There is nothing more important to our country than beating Donald Trump at the ballot box.”
Now it can be revealed that Sharon Stone has gone one step further: she is talking about leaving America for a new life in Europe if Trump wins in November.
Stone, 66, said this week that she is considering buying a home in Italy if the 78-year-old Republican candidate returns to the White House, saying, “I’m certainly considering a home in Italy. I think that’s an intelligent construct at this point.” She added, “This is one of the first times in my life that I’ve actually seen someone engage in a campaign based on hate and oppression.”

Friends of the actress say she spent some time house hunting on the French Riviera before setting her sights on Italy. One said: ‘Sharon has a lovely house with her kids in Beverly Hills, but I know she’s looked in Antibes. That was a few years ago, but she hasn’t really looked there.
“It’s fair to say she’s thinking about it again. I’d say France is still more likely than Italy.”
Stone will soon exhibit her paintings in Rome and currently also in Berlin.
Later this year she is expected to film Nobody 2 with Bob Odenkirk in America.
The Casino and Basic Instinct star has lived in the same home for over 25 years and currently has her sons Roan, 24, Laird, 19, and Quinn, 17, with her. The two youngest boys were adopted after her marriage to Phil Bronstein ended.
She also informally adopted a fourth boy, a friend of Roan’s who cared for his single father who had Parkinson’s. When his father passed away in 2022, Stone took him in as well.
Before Trump was elected in 2016, a number of celebrities said they would leave the country if he came to power.
Among those who vowed to leave were Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Bryan Cranston, Jon Stewart, Samuel L. Jackson, Miley Cyrus and Cher.
In the end, none of them left. Only Girls writer Lena Dunham kept her promise to leave, and that was in 2021 — a year after Biden won.

No cakes, by royal order
Samantha Morton, reprising her role as Catherine de Medici in The Serpent Queen, comes into conflict with Elizabeth I, played by Minnie Driver.
On screen it’s a battle for eternity, but in real life the two women – both British who made it in Hollywood – are friends and members of a mutual admiration society.
Morton describes Driver as “kind, intelligent and incredible,” adding: “I’m a huge fan. I’d seen her on this amazing show, The Politician’s Wife, and it just blew me away.”
As for stepping back into Catherine de Medici’s corsets, Morton says, “I’ve been doing costume dramas for a long, long time. And for me, it’s a piece of cake. I have to put the cakes in before we start filming, because, well… that’s that aspect.”
The battle against the pounds was also made easier by the fact that Catherine is older in season 2.
‘So when I said to the wonderful costume designer Karen Muller Serreau, “I’m so sorry… I’m a little bit bigger now…” she said, “She’s grown up! That’s fine!”‘
The Serpent Queen is now streaming on Prime Video.

Dawn French Revealed Deeply Embarrassing Encounter With Princess Margaret
Dawn French recalls an embarrassing encounter with Princess Margaret… while she was dressed as a comedy ballerina, complete with fake swan.
The comedienne performed at a fundraising event at the Royal Opera House, alongside her partner Jennifer Saunders and legendary ballerinas Viviana Durante, Sylvie Guillem and Darcey Bussell.
Afterwards, she told the Titting About podcast: ‘We were told, “Stay on stage because Princess Margaret is coming to greet you all.”
‘I’m in the swan suit… black tights, huge black fins. I’ve got a swan wrapped around me. And I’ve got crazy pink ballet legs coming out of my tutu… those are the fake legs… and I’m holding the swan’s head with the reins. She came up to me and looked at me.
“I thought she was going to kiss my cheek. Instead, she said two words that reduced me to a heap. She just said, ‘How brave.'”
Pitts’ wedding as court documents expected to reveal Angelina was the anonymous complainant about the FBI’s handling of the plane incident that ended the marriage
The legal battle surrounding the collapse of Jolie and Pitt’s marriage is expected to take a new twist with the release of court documents confirming that Angelina is indeed the “Jane Doe” who complained about the FBI’s handling of the private jet incident that ended the couple’s marriage eight years ago.
Judge Randolph Moss has issued an order asking the plaintiff — believed to be Jolie — to indicate whether the case should remain confidential and why she should remain a “pseudonym.”
Jolie has not yet commented on what will happen next.
The fashion world’s ‘First Cat’ — Karl Lagerfeld’s Choupette (both pictured) — has been living in luxury since her master’s passing in 2019
Hello, kitty! What Karl’s cat did next
The fashion world’s ‘first cat’ — Karl Lagerfeld’s Choupette — has been living in luxury since her master’s death in 2019.
However, it seems that her modeling career came to an end at the age of 13.
Lucas Berullier, the founder of My Pet Agency, which handles Choupette’s commercial work, says he recently hired and even airbrushed a lookalike for the Burmese cat known for her blue eyes and arrogant demeanor.
“Sometimes we use doubles,” Berullier said. “For her tail, she doesn’t need to be recognized. And for the face, sometimes it’s a little Photoshopped onto another cat’s body.”
They will use the money she has earned – a reported £11 million – to set up a Choupette Foundation which will rehome stray cats and ‘advocate the role of cats in society’.
Chanel designer Lagerfeld adopted Choupette in 2011, eight years before his death. There were plans to take her to this year’s Met Gala (whose theme honored Lagerfeld) with Kim Kardashian carrying her down the red carpet.
But Choupette took an instant dislike to Kim when they met. She started hissing at her and tried to bite her.
Glen is going big
Twisters doesn’t just send cars and cows skyward: the film has also given a huge boost to the career of lead actor Glen Powell, who is being touted as the new Tom Cruise.
The chisel-jawed Powell (who, at 6 feet 3 inches taller than Mr. Cruise), is responsible for some of the box office success of the film, which opened last week. Research shows that in the United States, 22 percent of the opening weekend audience came out primarily for him.
Powell, who is single, brought his shelter dog Brisket along to the red carpet and press tour.
The film will undoubtedly be surpassed by Deadpool & Wolverine this weekend, but Powell will continue to feel the positive experience for a while to come.
His next project, which has already started shooting, is Huntington, a variation on Kind Hearts And Coronets, in which a young man wants to kill his family so he can get rich.
Foul-mouthed Danny Dyer (pictured) is set to cause a stir during the press tour for the TV adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s Rivals
Rivals is ‘filth’ but Tennant fans will love it
Foul-mouthed Danny Dyer is set to cause a stir during the press tour for the TV adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s Rivals, if his recent appearance on Alan Carr’s podcast is anything to go by.
Dyer plays self-made electronics millionaire Freddie Jones (pictured) in the Disney+ series, which will debut later this year.
And in the podcast – which made South Park sound like an episode of CBeebies – he discussed the racy nature of the long-awaited show (readers of a sensitive nature may want to look away for now).
Dyer admitted that he had never read Rivals (or any of Cooper’s books), saying, “I know a lot of middle-class women bloody loved it,” before saying in amazement, “It’s filthy!”
Prompted by Carr, who referred to the show’s star, David Tennant, as “Dave Ten Inch,” Dyer continued: “If you like Tennant, you’re going to love it! He’s got a lovely big… No, I’m joking! He’s such a lovely man.”
Ooh Matron, fetch the smelling salts!
