The actor, 50, has been cast in Origin Of Species, director Ron Howard’s next film.

The project is being sold in Cannes by AGC, the superindie of British Stuart Ford (Moonfall). He will be toasted tonight by Variety magazine as a “billion dollar producer” at a cocktail event. Filming will begin in Australia at the end of this year.
Elsewhere, Jude recently explained why he stayed in character as Captain Hook while filming Peter Pan & Wendy on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The actor said he decided it would be better to stay as Hook all the time around the child actors he worked with on the Disney+ film.
“A lot of the reactions you see are their reactions to me for the first time,” Jude said.
Jimmy, 48, asked if the kids ever met Jude.
“They met Jude at the end and I did what any adult should do to bribe kids, I rented an ice cream truck,” Jude said. “I drove him to the spot.”

Jude said the script for the live-action reimagining of Peter Pan included more of Hook’s backstory.
“You understand a little more why Hook is the way he is,” Jude said. ‘How he came to Neverland, his and Peter’s relationship and how it really began. And so you really get into… a little bit of the damage done to him, and why he’s as horrible as he is.”
Jude said he had to learn sword fighting with his left hand for the film. He also kept the hook on all day and milked it.
