Alienware’s latest QD-OLED gaming monitors are available for purchase

Alienware debuted two new QD-OLED gaming monitors at CES 2024, and they’re already available for purchase. Compared to standard monitor technology, including even the best IPS and VA monitors out there, QD-OLED offers unparalleled contrast and deep blacks for a more realistic and accurate image. This QD-OLED panel type is slightly brighter than traditional OLED and shares its talent for fantastic viewing angles.

Building on the 34-inch curved 1440p display with a 175Hz refresh rate that Alienware launched two years ago (and which I reviewed on The edge), it has added a 27-inch flat 1440p panel to its catalog that supports an insanely fast 360Hz refresh rate, as well as a 32-inch 4K curved model. And in case you’re curious, both have an anti-reflective coating so they don’t glitter like OLED TVs.

The new 27-inch monitor costs $899.99. It can display a refresh rate of up to 144Hz at 1440p via the HDMI 2.1 port from a PC, although the PS5 and Xbox consoles limit theirs to 120Hz. You can take advantage of this monitor’s advertised 360Hz speeds if your PC is connected via one of the two DisplayPort… ports. In addition to video ports, it has several USB ports that are useful for connecting accessories.

The curved 32-inch monitor costs $1,199.99and can display 4K resolution with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz, when connected to a PC via DisplayPort. Notably, this monitor supports Dolby Vision HDR, potentially making it a great option if you enjoy watching 4K Blu-rays and other content available to watch with Dolby’s popular HDR format. Alienware’s new curved monitor has just one DisplayPort plug, but doubles the number of HDMI 2.1 ports in the new 27-inch model, in case you want to connect multiple HDMI sources. Better yet, one of those HDMI ports supports eARC for sending high-bandwidth audio pass-through to a soundbar (or possibly an even more impressive audio system) with just an HDMI cable.
