As she graced the green carpet before the ceremony began, Alicia posed for selfies with fans and signed autographs.

About her award, Alicia said on the carpet: ‘The Zurich Film Festival is the most prestigious and largest festival in Europe. So the fact that I can receive this award is extremely humbling.’

It comes after Alicia spoke to Nick Grimshaw, standing in for Lauren Laverne, about her historical drama film Firebrand.

Firebrand tells the story of Katherine Parr (Alicia), the sixth and last wife of Henry VIII (Jude Law).

Firebrand premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023 and was released in UK cinemas on September 6.

Alicia told Nick, 40, what attracted her to the film: “I think one of the biggest draws was actually getting to work with Karim Ainouz, the director.

“I had seen his films and he is a very big and loud Latin man, and so are his films.

‘And knowing that this Brazilian director would be taking on this very well-known British story and costume drama, I was very interested to know what that mix would be.

‘Jude Law was already attached to play Henry, which was another big draw for me. He’s incredible in the movie. And I knew it was going to be a pretty remarkable transformation.

“So, besides the fact that when I actually read the script, I almost felt a little bit ashamed because I didn’t know much about this woman.

“We heard a lot about this era and this time and this story about Henry, and the story about his wives, and then this woman who finally came out the other side and survived the whole thing, I probably knew least left.’

Written by sisters Henrietta Ashworth and Jessica Ashworth, Firebrand is based on Elizabeth Fremantle’s 2013 biography Queen’s Gambit.
