Alicia Keys is a diva in double denim as she and Maleah Joi Moon rock ab-baring looks for opening night of Hell’s Kitchen musical on Broadway

The Alicia Keys musical Hell’s Kitchen wrapped its multiple Off-Broadway run at The Public Theater in mid-January.

Now, the announced show and its main cast are back to reprise their roles, including Maleah Joi Moon as the Keys-inspired character Ali, for its opening night on Broadway at the Shubert Theater on Saturday, April 20.

Before the curtain was officially raised, the leading actress and production mastermind were among the stars who struck a few poses on the red carpet.

Moon, who marks her Broadway debut with this new version of Hell’s Kitchen, stepped out in a light blue denim ensemble that came complete with floral patterned pants and a matching crop top that showed off her toned midriff.

The actress and singer, 21, also added a third piece to the ensemble: a matching long denim jacket that reached her knees.

To complete her look, the Mystic Christmas Star donned a pair of rustic brown open-toe heels as she styled her shoulder-length raven braids long with plenty of her natural curls and several braids at the top of her head.

Keys, 43, opted for a dark blue denim outfit consisting of flared trousers and a cropped jacket that showed off her midriff.

She also wore a pair of black pointed pumps.

Keys also posed with some of her immediate family, including husband Swizz Beatz, 45, and two of his three children: Kasseem Dean, Jr., Prince Nasir Dean, from previous relationships, as well as her mother Terria Joseph, 73, music mogul Clive Davis, 92.

Ahead of its grand opening on Broadway, the singer-songwriter said the production has been a passion project because the story is so close to her heart.

“Good things take time and I spent thirteen years dreaming, developing and finding inspiration for a musical based on my experiences growing up in Hell’s Kitchen, New York,” Keys said in a statement. Deadline.

“I’m honored to be a part of this Broadway season with so much incredible talent and amazing stories. “I grew up with musical theater and have so many memories of being on line at TKTS to see shows like Miss Saigon and Rent,” in a reference to the booth that sells same-day tickets and next-day matinee tickets for up to 50% off out.

She added, “To me, Hell’s Kitchen is also a New York story about finding your dreams, and to me, this musical coming to Broadway is the embodiment of that idea.”

Directed by Michael Greif, the Broadway transfer of Hell’s Kitchen features a book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Kristoffer Diaz and music and lyrics by Keys.

The coming-of-age story follows 17-year-old Ali (Moon) who grows up in the title neighborhood with her mother in a cramped apartment near Times Square. All Ali wants to do is live her NYC dream, but her mother is too afraid that her daughter will repeat many of her own mistakes in the 1990s.

Ali feels trapped, until the sound of a neighbor playing the piano opens the door to an unexpected friendship and a radically different future.

The musical is loosely based on Keys’ own story of growing up in the famed part of Manhattan and features many beloved songs from the 16-time Grammy winner’s catalog, such as You Don’t Know My Name, Fallin’, If I Ain ‘t Got You, No One, Teenage Love Affair and of course Empire State of Mind.

In addition to her better-known songs from her critically acclaimed career, the show will also feature some new original songs Poster.
