Ali Krieger ‘secretly filed for divorce in New Jersey’ three months after ex-Ashlyn Harris ‘incorrectly’ filed in Florida

New court documents reveal that Ali Krieger also filed for divorce to end her marriage to Ashlyn Harris after the latter filed proceedings in another state.

Court documents obtained by US Weekly show Krieger, 39, filed separately in New Jersey on December 1, 2023. Her call to end their four-year marriage came amid claims Harris “falsely” filed in Florida.

In her filing, Krieger said she and Harris were married on December 28, 2019, in a civil ceremony in Miami, but live in New Jersey. She then cited irreconcilable differences as the paperwork shows there is “no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.”

The recently retired soccer star asked the court to establish a “legal and residential custody and parenting time arrangement that protects the best interests of their two children.”

The couple shares a three-year-old daughter, Sloane, and an almost two-year-old son, Ocean. Krieger also asked the court to divide their assets and debts equally β€” and that Harris pay her child support and legal fees.

In a January interview with Self Magazine, Krieger opened up about how she found out Harris had filed for divorce while training with her former team, NY/NJ Gotham FC.

β€œI found out at practice,” Krieger said. ‘I was on the field. And I came off the field, into the locker room, and I was obviously devastated,” Krieger said. “My whole team came over for a dance the night the news broke.”

β€œThen my teammates just started walking through the door,” Krieger revealed after canceling a press conference and going home. ‘All. On different times. We were there until 2am, just hanging out, dancing, putting music on YouTube. We sat in the playroom, in my kitchen. We were dancing and hanging out, and they all brought wine and flowers, and just themselves.”

Harris, the former USWNT goalkeeper, filed for divorce from Krieger on September 19, 2023 in Seminole County, Florida. According to documents obtained by the US, Harris described their marriage as “irretrievably broken.”

After the pair shared a 13-year relationship, Harris claimed that they are “anticipating entering into a prenuptial agreement that will resolve any financial issues” and “anticipating signing a parenting plan that will resolve any child-related issues.”

Neither Krieger nor Harris’ attorneys commented on the matter.

‘A few weeks ago, a process that had been going on privately for some time became public. Ending a relationship after nearly thirteen years of friendship, teamwork, marriage and co-parenting (many of which were good years) is a decision not made lightly,” Harris wrote on Instagram a month after the divorce was made public.

“We agreed to place our children in the center, continue therapy, separate and move on with our lives.”

Additionally, Harris began dating actress Sophia Bush after the split and brushed off cheating rumors, saying, “Not all marriages last forever.” Ours doesn’t. For many reasons,” Harris wrote. β€œLet me be clear: I have not given up on my marriage. I have always been faithful in my marriage, although not always completely happy.’
