  • Alexis Sánchez has revealed who he will back to win Sunday’s clash
  • The Chilean published on social networks that Arsenal “will always be in my heart”
  • Sánchez previously played for both Premier League clubs until 2018

Alexis Sánchez took aim at Manchester United ahead of their trip to the Emirates on Sunday by posting his support for Arsenal, despite previously playing for both clubs.

The Premier League title race could be thrown wide open when United travel to take on the leaders of the English top flight with the visitors looking to close the gap at the top to just five points.

However, Erik ten Hag’s confident Reds won’t be getting any messages of support from former underachiever Sanchez, who has posted on his Instagram highlighting his love for the Gunners.

Former Arsenal and Manchester United winger Alexis Sanchez has revealed which team he will support in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

Sánchez struggled at Old Trafford following his high-profile move from Arsenal in 2018

Re-sharing a video from Arsenal’s account showing a shout out from Sanchez who scored for the club against United during a 3-0 win in 2015, writing: ‘You remembered me. I will never forget you too. You’ll always be in my heart.

‘You were my first family in England and you all took such good care of me, especially the fans! All the best gunners!!

Sánchez enjoyed an impressive three-and-a-half-year spell at Arsenal, scoring 80 goals in 166 appearances before being tempted to join Manchester United in 2018 in a deal that saw Henrik Mkhitaryan move in the other direction.

Sánchez re-shared one of his goals for Arsenal on his Instagram story (left) along with words of thanks for the London club.

Sánchez left Arsenal in 2018 with many fans angry over his decision to join Manchester United.

However, his tenure at Old Trafford failed to deliver the performances for which he had been praised at Arsenal and the winger struggled to find consistency or a regular place in the team.

Just five goals later, the 34-year-old was finally loaned out in 2019 before moving permanently to Inter Milan.

His decision to leave north London for a Premier League rival at a time when many thought Sanchez was in his prime initially appeared to sour his relationship with Arsenal supporters.

Sánchez now plays for Ligue 1 side Marseille and has scored nine goals in all competitions this season.

But the former Barcelona star now appears to be doing everything he can to improve that relationship ahead of Sunday’s crucial tie between two of his former teams.

Now at Ligue 1 side Marseille, Sánchez will cheer on Mikel Arteta’s side as they bid for the Premier League title as a rejuvenated United seek their fifth league victory at The Emirates in 15 years.
