Alexander Ludwig and his wife Lauren welcomed their first child last Thursday.

On Tuesday, the 30-year-old Vikings alum and his wife announced the birth in a joint Instagram post, revealing that their baby girl arrived four weeks before her expected due date.

In the adorable photo, Alexander had his arms wrapped around 31-year-old Lauren as she held their baby and took the photo.

The caption also revealed that the couple – who announced they were expecting earlier this year in February – had named their daughter Leni.

“Leni James Ludwig decided to come on her own schedule 4 weeks early,” the new parents had written.

In the caption, they also shared that Alexander was “filming in a different state and came back just in time.”

The couple wrote that it was a memorable experience and “an employment story for the books.”

The parents were seen grinning broadly as they welcomed their child into their home.

On his Instagram story, the new dad also shared a photo of himself – taken by Lauren – holding their sleeping baby as she lay on his chest.

He wrote over the photo: “Daddy mode activated.”

A few months ago, Alexander and Lauren announced that they were expecting their first child together.

Nine months earlier, the couple had opened up about their third miscarriage.

In the collaborative Instagram post, the Game Of Thrones vet was seen standing behind his wife of more than two years as he gently rocked her growing baby bump in an adorable mirror selfie.

Previously, the lovebirds — who eloped just a month after getting engaged in Utah in November 2020 — revealed the tragic news in May last year that they had experienced a third pregnancy loss.

After a difficult journey, the couple happily told their followers, “Baby Ludwig is coming in May 2023.”

The talented actor wrote in the caption, “It’s been a long road and we wanted to wait for it to look promising this time.”

The Hunger Games star added that both he and his wife are “grateful” for the stream of “support” they have continuously received. Alexander humorously added that their dog, Yam, is “stir up.”

The actor also posted the caption his wife typed on her own Instagram page, which read, “As many of you know, it’s been a long road for @alexanderludwif and myself.”

She then revealed, “We suffered 3 losses before this one, but each of those losses taught us about ourselves and each other.”

Lauren then added a motivational message to her followers, writing, “To anyone who has had a miscarriage before, there is light on the other side of your journey. You are not alone.’

Social media users quickly poured over the comment section to send their congratulations and well wishes to the parents-to-be.

Twilight alum, Ashley Greene, who welcomed her own first child last September, excitedly wrote, “Yay yay yay!!! So happy for both of you.’

Under Lauren’s message, the actress also wrote, “Congratulations beautiful angel. You’re going to be such a great mom,” and kindly added, “call me with any questions because I’m right in the thick of it hehe. Sending you both love!’

Alexander’s sister, Natalie, added a few red heart emojis to congratulate her brother and sister-in-law.

In the photo shared on both the actor’s account and his wife’s account, the Heels star was seen in all black in a plain long-sleeved sweater and black pants.

His wife and business manager wore a short-sleeved brown shirt that was lifted slightly to give a quick glimpse of her baby bump. She opted for comfort by also wearing loose, cream sweatpants.

Alexander’s right hand lovingly hugged his wife’s belly as she held her smartphone up to the mirror to take the selfie in what appeared to be a spacious hallway.

Their adorable pup, Yam, was on display for the happy couple as they stared at the two.

“I’ve debated back and forth about whether or not to post something about this, but I’ve decided that we all need to start talking more about the truth,” she began emotionally.

“Last week @alexanderludwig and I had our third miscarriage. I decided I wanted to share because I don’t think it’s embarrassing to talk about,” adding that she wanted other women to know miscarriages were “common” and not “something to be ashamed of.”

She continued, “Going through this made me realize that I am definitely not alone. It’s so common and yet I feel like it’s not talked about nearly enough. If more of us talked about these things, we might feel less alone and less guilty. Information is power and I want to share more of it.’

The founder of Theirs Is Ours jewelry concluded movingly with, “This will forever be part of our story. By sharing this I hope, if only for another reason, that that one person reading this knows they are not alone.”

Alexander had responded to her post in the comments at the time, writing, “I am so proud to call you my wife, you amaze me everyday with your resilience and simply love of life. We have this baby ❤️’
