‘Girls like you, I kill them’: Alex Scott reveals she was almost kidnapped by an Uber driver who ‘tried to touch and kiss her legs’ in Russia while covering the 2018 World Cup in Moscow
Alex Scott has revealed she was nearly kidnapped by a ‘sick’ Uber driver in Russia who tried to ‘touch and kiss her legs’ while she was covering the 2018 Moscow World Cup for the BBC.
The 38-year-old football pundit shared that on work trips, the BBC insisted that staff use pre-booked official cars.
However, the expert went out at night for a drink with a friend and chose to take an Uber back to her hotel with a male driver, who turned her on a few minutes into the 15-minute ride.
Through Google Translate on his phone, he said, ‘Girls like you, I kill them,’ and Alex only managed to escape when he told her he had to go see President Putin, whom he met that morning.

She explained how the incident played out in her memoir How (Not) To Be Strong, adding that he also said, “Tell them they’ll never see you again,” the mirror reported.
Also in the terrifying ordeal, when Alex stammered: ‘I don’t understand,’ the man added, speaking into his phone in Google Translate: ‘I’m not taking you home tonight. You come with me.’
The pundit was stunned and petrified as the driver continued to say ‘horrible’ things to her, saying that girls like her don’t come home.
Alex, fearing for his safety since the doors were locked, texted his agent and told him the situation.

Alex wrote: ‘He started laughing. ‘No one sees Putin’. He was struggling now, pulling out photos of the morning’s visit to the Kremlin that had made headlines.
His laughter faded and he began to realize what she was telling him, and the expert said: “If I don’t see Putin tomorrow, he will find you.”
Her driver soon began taking her back to her hotel, with the driver trying to touch her legs and kiss her before she escaped.
Alex said: ‘I knew then that I was almost wrong but instead of facing it I just… put the incident aside as if it never happened.
“I didn’t want people to worry about me or think I couldn’t handle myself, like when I was young.”
