Alex Murdaugh’s ‘fans’ send MONEY to the double killer’s prison store account

Fans of Alex Murdaugh are sending money to the double killer’s prison store account, it has been revealed.

The disgraced legal scion, 54, is languishing in South Carolina’s McCormick Correctional Institution after being sentenced to life for the murder of his wife and son.

Murdaugh’s notoriety means his account with the prison’s commissary – where inmates can buy soft drinks, snacks and toiletries – has been inundated with money from well-wishers, including women who write him love letters.

Meanwhile, the courthouse in Walterboro, where his six-week trial took place, is giving free tours after being overrun by true-crime tourists.

Murdaugh was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in March following the brutal murder of his wife Maggie, 52, and son Paul, 22, at their sprawling Moselle hunting estate in June 2021.

He shot the couple in cold blood when his life spiraled out of control after embezzling millions from his family law firm to feed his crippling opioid addiction.

But the barbarity of the murders has not deterred the dozens of women who have written him love letters.

Many of them also deposit money into Murdaugh’s prison account. The South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) has a cashless system for inmates, but friends and family can deposit money into their commissary account.

Money can be transferred online, by mobile app, by phone, by letter, and even at various retail locations, including Walmart, ACE, Kmart, and Kroger.

That’s what Murdaugh’s lawyer Jim Griffin said Fox news his client did not yet have access to the funds.

Back at the Colleton County Courthouse where the trial took place, tourists from as far away as the United Kingdom came to visit the historic site.

“They want to see where the cell was where Alex Murdaugh was held during the day,” said clerk Becky Hill. WCSC. “They want to see the witness stand, where the jury sat, where the prosecution sat, the defense people, the jury room.”

Court staff have a special route that takes tourists through the courtroom, into the courtroom where Murdaugh faced the jury, and around the outside. The bailiffs share stories with the tourists.

‘Mr. Buster Murdaugh’s portrait is back on the wall,” Hill said, referring to the photo of Murdaugh’s grandfather that had to be removed for the trial. “So they take pictures of that.”

Murdaugh was transferred to McCormick earlier this month and has been placed on a secure wing due to his disgrace in the case.

But at least he has love letters to keep him busy.

Fox got 86 pages of emails and letters sent to the double killer since his sentencing on March 3.

“He thinks he can be productive in the general population,” Murdaugh’s attorney said

“I was compared to Jessica Biel at the gym yesterday…what a compliment, she’s so athletic and fit!” Katie Marie wrote Murdaugh. She added, “I look like a beauty queen contestant.”

But the Boston resident, who spent 18 months in jail for selling heroin, warned Murdaugh to be wary of other women.

“If they pretend to want you, they’re just hoping you have money OR put them on the map,” said Katie Marie.

A 36-year-old Missouri mother, Rachel B., told Murdaugh, “I’ll bet I’m the hottest person you’ve gotten mail from yet!”

Others were more sexually suggestive.

“The thought of Alex Murdaugh consumes me day and night,” Danielle H. swooned in an April 13 email. “I’m almost tempted to write you something erotic.”

“I think I’ve become obsessed with you. I don’t care what you did,” she added. ‘Alex. Could you please respond?…Mr. Murdaugh? Just a hello?’

In an earlier email, the Las Vegas native said, “I think about you all the time. I can not stop. I love you!!!’

Murdaugh has also been approached by Netflix despite being described as the judge who sentenced him as a ‘monster’

It seemed that Murdaugh had not answered any of the women.

His lawyer Griffin warned that the “fans” could have ulterior motives.

“It seems to me that they’ve become more romantic, and I suspect that people who write know that their messages will be sent to the media,” he told Fox.

The SCDC also released call logs from April 3 to April 21, which showed that Murdaugh placed 65 collect calls, but only 16 were accepted.

“I think those are all calls to me and my office,” Griffin told Fox. “There have been major problems with the telephone system there. One day he reported that he had tried me 20 times before it went through.’

Murdaugh has been given heavily regulated phone and messaging capabilities while in prison. He has a prison-issued tablet, which is not connected to the internet.
